Remember as Dale stated in his review of SP33, *“The next thing to point out is that the driver retaining ring is left-hand thread, turns to the right to remove.”

I just received my SP33 from the 11.11 sale and I don’t regret it.
The unprotected Liitokala black fit and work well.
What I see is exactly what is shown in Lux post.
Although I’m a bit surprised by its size, my Convoy C8+ is longer and the head is wider.
I’d say 1 to 1,5 cm.
Yesterday, I was able to take some beamshots of the SP33. IMHO, the beam profile is a great compromise between throw and flood with a quite neutral white tint and only slightly visible shifting into yellow around the spot's rim. I managed to restart the turbo (timed step-down) multiple times without any power drops due to voltage sag. Probably due to its hefty housing the light did not heat up very much and felt comfortably warm in my hand. Okay, it was 3°C outside but I don't think it would mean a huge difference at 20°C.
So yeah, I had to go ahead and order this new SP33 with XHP-50 in it so, well, you know, I can compare it to the original. It’s on the way, with tracking number. (not showing up in the system yet but I just ordered it Wed, the 21st.)
It’s apparently not my week when it comes to emitters. I had a tool slip and bash into the package of the “white flat” I was putting into another light. I thought I’d dodged a bullet, but when I opened the light up again to try and adjust the focus, the retaining ring knocked a chunk of the white top or packaging loose. The light still works, with no obvious effect on the beam pattern. I improved the focus too, but it needs more tweaking, which I won’t be doing; I don’t want to risk further damage.
Thanks. I think both of those options are going to be floodier than I’d prefer. Do you have any experience with the the 80CRI XHP50.2 J2 40D emitters Kaidomain sells?
I just got my SP33 in today. I’m quite impressed. Look for a write-up and test soon.
The UI is really great on this one. One click on/off. The 3 main modes cycle low, med, high when you hold down the button. When on, you can double click and you get a tiny ramp up to turbo. One more click and you get a smooth ramp back down to your previous level. The ramp up and down seem nice in comparison to the C8F’s ramp up to turbo and sudden drop back down. Moonlight is hidden. Strobe is hidden. The spacing in the levels is really good. The emitter color is nice. I’m digging it.
The only improvement I can think of is bypassing both springs. This can help keep the voltage higher and give more cumulative turbo run time.
Also maybe have the switch light on all the time to act as a locator. I’ll see about adding that feature.
