I think it looks like crap! I can see variations like that among different models but to have something like that in a single model? Unacceptable! I have only one Solarforce light (L2T) and it is very nice, but I’ve seen almost as many examples of crap come from them as I have seen real gems. I want an L2M but will look to other makers for a similar light in size before I shop them. They really should be embarrassed. So far I’m not impressed with them the way some people around here have praised them up and down. I expect better from a company with their reputation.
MrCG, a question...did you happen to buy the L2m during a special pricing or clearance sale? I've heard elsewhere something about them unloading inferior examples during their "sales" but neglect to mention the fact that they are factory seconds. People buy them thinking they are getting a good price on top-quality products only to receive factory seconds or blems. Just curious if this is the case with your 2 examples. It certainly would help explain why some have great luck and others don't.
I suggest you send it back and ask for a refund and stop doing business with them. Obviously your standards are higher than theirs so I don’t see the two of you being able to conduct business with each other successfully. Find another supplier for your needs, it will likely cost you more, but if you demand quality that is the price you pay.
Oh blimey, the knurling pattern on my 2010 $urefire 6P doesn’t match with the knurling of its tailcap! Should I send it back and ask for a refund?
Seriously, we are talking about a torch for 10.99, here, which is basically twice as much what an SK68 costs. Really, who’d make a big deal out of this, as long as the threads are cut correctly and the O-rings seated properly?
I recently bought a set of an L2 with a CR123 extender (to use with 2 AA cells) and it looks the same. The anodizing of the extender piece is a little more shiny than the L2 body and the knurling is smoother.
The L2 body itself however is flawless and the pieces match together perfectly.
It didn't bother me that much, I just figured the parts were from different batches.
I ordered exactly THIS and mine does not have that even knurling their image shows.
This sounds like I expect too much. I have several SK86s, they are not perfect. I have the 18650 Xioazhi and it IS perfectly machined, I have an Ultrafire 2100 and an Ultrafire 504b and BOTHs` parts match perfectly. And then I have the L2P and the new L2M. Their material might be better than the Ultrafires, but they both have major colour and/or machining flaws. I am NOT expecting anything high end, but at least something that is matching, even and without very visible errors.
We are still talking about Solarforce lights, right? Solarforce, the brand that is so much praised on everx forum! I don´t care about the 11 USD in this case. It´s SF and they did NOT say it´s 2nd run or something like that. Let me quote from their site:_ NEW!! Solarforce L2M_
Basically, what I want is what the SF-Webiste says and SHOWS.
I completely agree, cheaper price or not, it looks significantly different than whats pictured. They should have said price applies to mismatched parts if thats what they meant…
My wife & I took this weird little neighbor out to Applebee’s. She kept sending her order back because the cheese wasnt stringing off her fork like it did in the commercial…. ( true story )
I thought that Solarforce was one of the better makers of the P60 lights. I can say after seeing and handling several that they are what I would call "hit or miss". There does not seem to be any quality standard, but I'm not all that surprised, as many overseas manufacturers do not hold quality standards like what I am used to. As far as the OP, if you don't like it, then contact them and ask for a refund or for them to pay return shipping. They will probably not do either, but it's worth a try.
They paid for shipping my first L2P back and sent me another (that was still not matching, but better).
They better help me out on this one or… I will cry like a baby!
I would have left. I never mess with anyone preparing or serving me my food. Most likely you & your wife got your plate before your neighbor sent hers back. Ever seen the movie, "Waiting"?
I said that you expect more than they deliver. I didn’t suggest you should be happy with them. I suggested that you stop doing business with them. I agreed with you the first time. Then you ordered again. Why? You already knew at that point that their quality control was hit or miss.
Send it back and don’t buy from them again. They are not selling a product you are happy with. I felt bad for you the first time, but this time I simply can’t feel the same. In all honestly you got what you should have expected considering your first experience.
I am glad that you shared your experience with everyone and thanks for that. I now know that if I buy from them there is a chance that I will get a product that doesn’t perfectly match. So I will only order from them if I am willing to accept that fact.
Good luck and I hope you find a supplier who delivers the quality you are looking for.
@ 18sixfifty: have you seen the loooads of threads/posts with so many people saying Solarforce is one of the best flashlight makers? And not only on this forum.
After my first order I thought I might just have had bad luck. So why not giving that highly recommended brand another chance?
Wellllll, I dont think thats in the same neighborhood though. Thats more like if the “egg breakfast” special you order was an omelette and it comes to your table half omelette, half scrambled eggs with “filling” scrambled in and put together in the same order plate, (different order style, but hey, its still eggs and filling, technically its the same “egg breakfast”). I’d be annoyed and not come back but prob not send it back either.
I prob wouldnt send the $10.99 light back either but I’d sure be annoyed, and not buy again. MrCG has a right to be annoyed and send back if they wish…and in this case no risk of “extras”
Again I am glad you posted your experience so that we can all learn from your experience. However, they didn’t get it right the first or the second time. You did say that even after they sent back the first one it wasn’t right. Furthermore, you might want to consider that many of the positive comments came from people who were not quite as worried about a perfectly matching host as you. (Sometimes the whole world isn’t crazy and it really is you. )
You have a right to be as picky as you choose, but choose some other place. They have proven to you that they are not reliable enough for a person who is looking for something close to perfection.
I am NOT looking for something close to perfection! My friend, check the “Show your Solarforce” threads on CPF. ALL the pics there show better Solarforce lights than the two (three) I got!
I did not order random lights from an unknown seller and expected high quality. I order from Solarforce and expected to get what all the people SAY and all the people SHOW in their pictures!
Nothing more- nothing less.
The world is not crazy and I am not eitehr. Check CPF, check my images and THEN tell me I am expecting to much.
