Solarforce M3 to MT-G2 emitter

Has anyone tried swapping the emitter in the Solarforce M3 with a MT-G2 ? Sure they make the K3 but it is HUGE (that’s what she said)

Anyone ?

If I remember it is essentially a P60. Instead of screwing the base into the reflector you would screw it into the M3 head. It would be doable but probably get too hot with a FET and Zener driver.

Edit: Yup, easy peasy. See here

Easy but the thermal design of the M3 is not that good…I’ve never seen the K3 though.

Than I guess I will just buy the k3. Was hoping to get the m3 and add a g2 16mm board to it and be done.

In my experience he M3 is not a very good host for a high performance led + driver. Solarforces drives it at 1,5A approx, and getting higher than that you’ll reach the thermal limits quickly.
That does’t prevent me to use a 5A driver, lol! But max mode is limited to a few minutes/seconds.
