Anyone thought of using the SST-50 driver to get the sustained 5+ amps from one good cell? If so, how has it worked out?
Which driver are you talking about? Got a link? The SST50/TR-3T6 works well with XM-L and MT-G2, can handle 2 or 3 cells and is resistor modable. Lots of reviews float around on that driver, and here’s one from my X7:

From the moment I saw the X7, it caught my eye. The big reflector, large deep-finned aluminum heat sink, coupled with 3 x 18650 cells should do a good job as a thrower capable of sustaining high-mode run times. The size seemed on the cusp of what would otherwise be to large for a long term carry (IMO, such is the case with the larger X6).
