Sugestions for a house lantern

Sofirn LT1 is a good choice ! BRIGHT & LONG-LASTING lantern CLICK TO CHECK

Came across this today. Don’t know anything about it. Batteries don’t appear to be removable which would be a deal killer for me.

I have recently refreshed my house yard with a few lanterns so might be able to help you. But first, what's your budget?

i recommend a nice lantern like the blf lt1 for the living room and a bunch of these flashlights that look like lightbulbs.
i put a bulb shaped light in each room. lt1 where everyone is congregating. lots of regular flashlights to ceiling bounce in coffee mugs.

StreamLight Siege 3D.

Energizer Weathermatic 3D/3AA.

Both more than enough and my power went out for 84 hours during hurricane Irma in ’17.

However, a few Dollar Store 5oz. teacup candles strategically placed in each room did most of the heavy lifting.

I second the StreamLight Siege 3D. I have the 3AA one as well.

I mentioned the Zanflare T1 above, which came in handy one Christmas when I lost power (whole block fried), which lasted on nice warm-white light at (guessing) half-power all night long, and was just at its last gasp when daylight came.

But I stuck my Wuben E03 (?) with magnetic tail and come-with diffuser, onto the light fixture in the basement above where my cats’ litterbox is, just to let them see where they’re going. One AA on moonlight was more than enough probably for a week if I’d need it.

If you want to light up a kitchen like The Flasholic does, yeah, you’ll need something with more oomf and with more capacity, obviously.

And I got a pair of… Litom?… motion-detecting outdoor solar-lights, which I use downstairs for the cats and me, so it lights up when anyone comes down the stairs. It crokes, I swap the one that’s sunning itself for the one that’s spent, then reverse when that one crokes.

So it depends on what you want to use it for, I guess. Don’t think I can say that there’s THE lantern for everything, but nice variations.

And you can use something like a Q8 as a ceiling-bounce light. Not terribly efficient, but ceiling-bounce works nicely enough, and no harsh shadows.

The original post was Feb 5, 2020. I’m assuming the OP found some LED lanterns by now. Would be interested to know what was picked.

I made mine from a vinegar bottle from WM.
The diffuser came with the light; the orange color is from the switch cover from a cheap light stuffed into the diffuser.
The grommet is a 1/2” top hat.
I live in Florida and the orange does not attract bugs.
I have run it for 36 hours on low with an EBL AA.! !

For how many hours?
And how did you decide?

I’d suggest the Sofirn BLF LT1S:

I like this one a lot, a really fine diffuser, good high and good low, and a very nice long running night light, super low.

This one has a power bank function and does not bother your eyes even sitting it at eye level.

Obulbs are frequently being deployed during power outage events by Olight members. 56hrs runtime on low.
