I would not be too quick to say there was no reaction. All the Chinese retailers are super busy right now. Sometimes an email might not get through.

I would send Leo an email at least once a week.

Lumintop GT micro

Increasing brightness doesn’t solve it, That die is always less bright than the others

I’ll have to reflow a new led…

I can’t wait to lumintop to send me a new led so removed one from my XHP70.2 modded L6 and reflowed on GT70 MCPCB. I still wait to get a new led from lumintop.
Here are some beamshots from the backyard and from this early morning heavy fog.

The blue is from camera not led

And the red is from my car taillights adding a nice extra to the shots:

I received my CW kit over the weekend. Haven’t gotten a chance to install it yet; hopefully everything goes as planned.

Ordered: September 13
Shipped: October 18
Received: November 24

Looks like my packaging was on par with everyone else’s. I’m going to try and install the kit tonight. I only wish I had a second GT to compare the two side by side.

Don’t forget to clean the led dome first! The small particles are black from the foam and they will heat up and burn the whole dome.

Yea, I plan on using alcohol like everyone else. Oak cask, single malt

I got my conversion kit today, and………… :frowning: looks like Edward Scissor Hands attempted a dedome/slice.

Lol,WTF

I truly appritiate Lumintop and Texas Ace putting together this DIY kit and dont want to discourage them from doing cool stuff like this in the future. Should I complain or let it slide ???

Is the dome damaged in any way?
Can you post a picture maybe?

I’m still not understanding how exactly domes are being damaged. It it before being boxed up or during shipping?

The domes are most likely being damaged when the edge of the driver gets under the MCPCB & beats on the LED during shipping.

Got a kit from Neal, he taped the centering block to the board to protect the LED. Driver and board were packed tightly, enough that they were still separated on their side of the box when I opened it.

Well that was a smart move on Neals part, at least the LED was protected from damage from the Driver. Did you still have the black crap from the foam all over the LED??

When I got my two kits all the parts were bunched up in one end of the box in both of them.

Luckily, besides the black foam ’dust’ being all over everything; there ’appears’ to be no damage to the LED. I have not installed either one yet so the final verdict is still out I guess.

jupp the black foam flakes and got all over the thing :stuck_out_tongue:

Will have to clean all the stuff and get rid of the foam before converting, but at least my dome is fine.
Dedoming a XHP70.2 is not so easily done.

Now that I look at it again, it looks like it got smashed by the driver. The dome also has a bunch of black ash looking particle’s all over it.

Owe and, what is up with this center ring? Arnt they suppose to touch the base of the LED?

Someone at Lumintop sure missed the mark when packing these kits. They should have gotten whomever packed the original GT's, those were packed very well. Too bad.

Wow, that led is ruined. You’ll need to contact Leo about getting a replacement.

Some centering rings do and some don’t. This one lines up the reflector with the 2 screws on the mcpcb. In theory this design is stronger. The ones that touch the led can potentially rip the led off the mcpcb if you drop the light on its side because the reflector is so big and heavy. There are pro’s and cons to both designs.

Nope, packed and wrapped in white foam.

HA!Looks pretty familiar to me (see my pics @ #2621)

Good!! Packing job by Neal for the win… :+1: . :+1:
