The Endless Project has begun - 12x XP-G2, 120W, ~8000L?

how large is that piece u made comfychair ?

Same as a SRK lens (2.165"), 1/8" thick.

ahhh your is smaller than mine, i had this machined to fit 4 ahorton aspheric lenses inside to fit inside a shower head host

!!

and

!!

Why ask Why?

the host will be the srk? nice

you will use the stock pill or you will build one ? I planing to make one “multi led” in the srk host in the future (all flood with big aspherical lens) but make the pill will be hard because the diameter are 52mm

I can buy 60mm diameter round bar in my city or buy 2”1/8 (53mm) in ebay but my tools for reduce the diameter are bad and will take many time

lol

Space from the bottom of the typical SRK pill location to the bottom of the 3XP boards is going to be something like .600"/15mm thick, if I can find a copper slug close to the right size I'll use copper, otherwise it'll be aluminum. Press-fit into the head permanently.

Plan is to use one of the black no-name 6XL2s as the host, the 6x parts will get recycled around to other lights. How about a 6x with that crazy direct drive 'Securitying' 3-mode driver? :p

I hate sounding like a broken record but that is damn nice work.

Sweet…

¡Muy brilliante!

This doesn't really reflect on how accurate a sloppy drill press can be, since these holes were all referenced off the center pilot holes which were just sized by eye - any variation in those pilot holes transferred to the holes as they are now.

Once they're all sanded to open them up to .737-.738" it will all work out. There won't be any o-rings, just clear silicone RTV, so I may give each hole 3 little scallops so none of the optics are hidden under the bezels.

Very good job, the holes are perfect, the name of your tool are “drill press”?

your tool are like this or your tool is different or much better?

Just a plain drill press, the cheapest one they had at the home improvement store.

Note there's a difference in how the parts are set up depending on if it's a cut on the outside or inside of a part. For either one, it's always set so the vertical guide pins stop the cutter from going too deep. The area to be cut always moves towards both the pins & the cutter, so that if it slips or as you move it around it'll cut less, not more. It'll only cut to the correct depth when the part is against the pins.

Right - pins limit the depth of the cut:

Wrong - if the part moves away from the pins (and it will), the cut will be too deep:

some really neat fixturing there and very impressive results, whatever the tools. Good to hear about the lathe, which one are you getting?

Nitro, good score on the lathe and mill, although I wouldn’t get rid of your drill press if you can afford to keep it. You can always use it for basic drilling/ deburring/ etc jobs to save having to change set ups on the mill. Once I finish making another torch for my daughter I’ll get on to setting up an x-y vise I got from HF so I can do some light milling on my drill press (15in Walker Turner). That’ll be a significant upgrade in facilities

Comfychair is real Meister...

IMHO XPG2 is best emitter released so far so this will be extreme build...

I've ordered a pile of XPG2 4Cs (from KD, so no telling what they'll actually be, and they should be here at least by the end of summer, w00t!), haven't seen them in that tint anywhere else.

this is looking real nice
