I didn’t know Nightwatch is also by Jacky of Fireflies/Enogear. I love my Nightwatch IRA dual switch host with copper pill. The thermal performance is simply amazing on that thing. I put a 4xE21A on that thing and it seems to maintain high output indefinitely. If you PM Fireflies on BLF, he still have a few of those Enogear stainless steel AA and AAA flashlights that everyone likes.
I agree an aspheric super thrower would be fun with this emitter. I prefer 21700 host though since 21700 cells are more energy dense and more compact.
Yesteryear’s big thrower compared to today’s small thrower:
The Courui DO1 modded, dedomed XML2 vs. the stock Nightwatch NI01L IRAlite, Osram White Flat version
Effective reflector diameter (inside of the bezel) - 67mm vs. 34.7mm. Power source: 3 x 18650 compared to 1 x 26650
Courui DO1 (de-domed XML2, modded), left ——————————————— stock Nightwatch IRAlite Osram White Flat version
Just placed an order, but I forgot to apply the discount code. I sent an email to Neil asking if he would honor the discount code, or maybe just credit my account for my next order.
Thank you Neal for offering us the white flat version light for the same price as the xhp70.2 version. Just purchased 5. Could you please offer us a suitable clip for this light?
Now that’s interesting.
LE CWUW S2W comes with warm white Black Flat dies which are not available otherwise.
And there’s LE UW S2WP which offers big lumens in a small package, may rival Luminus CFT-90 (though I expect it to be slightly worse) for a much lower price.
NightWatch’s test results showed that compared with sst40@7.5A which was completed de-domed, 3 voltage s2wp@20a has a 27% throw improvement in the same reflector
