the Fasttech one also required reduction to 19mm btw :-) , it seems like they were never meant to be used with a 20mm board (assuming anyone out there has spend a single thought on the design of these things)
Are there any c12 host that uses a xre reflector? and how well does a xml reflector work with a xpg?
I have a spare dedomed xpg2 on a sinkpad so i may put it in a c8 style host too
In design/shape terms I still can not imagine how a reflector can be specific for a led other than that is has a hole big enough for it. In other words: a parabole is a parabole is a parabole, right? Perhaps the 'XR-E' reflector happens to be a better made one?
They are totally different shapes. XML is narrow at the base, the side walls are right up against the opening. The XRE has a large, ~14mm flat area around the hole. Wider at the bottom and the same size at the front means the wall angles are closer to parallel.
I thought I read that most c8 pills will fit most c8 but the xintd c8 wasn’t compatible
XinTD pill threads are the same as the generic C8, it's the Convoy that's the oddball.

Just to add to the confusion, XinTD and Convoy battery tube/tailcap threads are the same, and different than the other generic C8s.

You can use the Convoy host, just swap the stock reflector for an XR-E one. And use the empty brass pill that fits the Convoy.

As I understand, the driver is now 2mm thiner than the pill, so should fitt in fine.
Just a question, should I use thermal greese with it? (on the emitter side, or maybe both?)
Just get the XinTD C8 with the XP-G2 S2 stock, I think it will be cheaper, alot easier and better.
Sure, but it takes away the fun of putting it together and probably melt some parts in the process
