Try a different battery (set)
Yes, like Leroy says, try a different set of batteries. I had a heck of a time getting Energizer lithium ion primary AA’s to work. I ended up taking some 400grit sand paper and roughed up the positive and negative ends of each battery. Was almost like there was a coating on the batteries.
Thanks for the suggestions but the the problem was even simpler. One of the four cell orientation had fallen into the tube and adhered to one of the anode buttons. 
So two were properly affixed at the end of the battery tube, one was covering the contact and the fourth has escaped without a trace. Flashlight is working correctly now.
Hardly deserves the terms troubleshooting or repair, eh? :student: Just needed a long pair of tweezers.

EDIT:
I thought about it, went back & checked for a separate code. There was none, but the discounted price then appeared anyway. I had clicked the discount coupon link the first visit. That's when I noticed it was for "buy two". Maybe that set a cookie that resulted in the $16.12 price appearing the second visit? Don't know, but it worked for the purchase of a single light.
