ThorFire PF04 LED Pen Flashlight Deal

Yes, it’s modified. If you compare the circuits of the two versions, they are different.

Neutral white is a little dimmer than Cool White under the same conditions, right?

Well, not necessarily. It depends on the led bin code too. A neutral white with a higher bin, could actually be brighter, but everything else the same, it could be a few less lumens. Not enough to notice usually. Throwers usually go with cool white, because they “look brighter”, but actual lumens and lux between 6500k and 5000k are not all that much different and in the average light, not noticeable at all as far as brightness. Have your guys put a neutral white and a cool white in two lights and test them. I think you may like the neutral white better overall.

Would be much appreciated if you do a review in a new post and share it on your social network page. It’s really not easy for customers to believe ThorFire is not like other cheap xxxFire. Pig reminds people of dirty not because the name is pig. Many people don’t even bother trying due to our brand name. I prefer it to be Thorlight or ThorLED, whatever, the brand name was not made by me.

You remind me our two batches of VG10 flashlights, previous is cool white, and the upgraded version is neutral white, what we got, why your upgraded VG10 is not as bright as old version? All right, we make it back to cool white, because it looks brighter. Now you guys say neutral white is better. My brain is messed up

Like I said, it is an individual matter of preference. Usually, what ends up happening, that works the best, is to offer both a Neutral white and a Cool white and let the customer pick. Many times they will buy both. I think offering both is the best way and if you do some looking around, you will see that done many times. I remember Nitecore offering both neutral white and cool white in some lights and so do other manufacturers. It does cost more to stock both and no one says you have to.

You can never please everyone and complaints are like assholes, everyone has at least one.

You are right. It cost more to stock all those versions. I think we can try to make some for BLFers first.

I have both the old and new versions of the Thorfire TG06. - PLEASE make a Neutral White version of the New model, and I will buy it at once!

Oh! - And please make it Low-Med-High, with a Reverse clicky switch, like the old model has. - A light this small should Not start on High, or at least, so says me

The tint, the mode sequence and the switch is all that I find wrong with that light. - I really Love the smooth reflector that gives it increased throw over the old model.

I also have your Thorfire C8 - I bought the ‘regular version’ because the ‘S’ model starts on High and I didn’t want that. - The tint is not too bad for this kind of light, but it would be good to also have a Neutral option for it - I would buy one of those too!

Excellent Lights, it’s just these little personal things that keeps them from being even better - For Me.

Thank you,
-Chuck

I think that the secret to it, is to find the right neutral bin so that while the overall colour rendition is better, the amount of overall lumens/lux is not significantly changed.

Just ordered a PF04. Cant wait to do a review.

Just got one in the mail. I will do a review in a couple days, since I will be tied up till then, but first impression is:

  • Well made
  • Smooth anodized finish, no blemishes
  • Starts on high, but it has mode memory, so I don't see the problem. Whatever mode that it is on, when you shut it off, that is the mode when turns back on, so if you want moonlight or medium or high, just turn it off on that mode.
  • Clicky is stiff, for on/off, but not that bad and light press for mode changing is fine.
  • Very bright for a 2AAA light. I will be playing with it at work for a couple days before I do the review. So far, I like it.

Thanks. I was kind of indecisive when upgrading the lights. Do you guys like a forward clicky or reverse clicky? Forward switch is great for the tactical momentary-on, but it’s not easy to change modes and the battery drains even when the light is OFF. Well, it looks I stand behind reverse switch.
ThorFire C8s now starts from low to high, and it has memory. Now the latest version C8s rocks I think.

I also suggest you offer neutral white lights. I prefer neutral white.

I honestly think this would be the perfect light if the tail switch was only on/off and mode selection was accomplished by twisting the head. Most of us have a preferred mode we all like our lights to start out in, but nobody can agree on what it is! With a twist-head mode selection, each person can choose their preferred starting mode. In essence, the “memory” would be in hardware, not software.

Oh, and how about a silver version? Gosh what an incredible thing it to be able to talk directly to a the manufacturer of a product. The modern world is an incredible place.

I picked one up and it’s great for the size . I use it to check the case for left over letters . It’s small and that 200 lumens is bright compared to all those “store bought lights ” only gripe I have is need some knurled texture on the middle

Since this thread has resurfaced, any progress on a neutral or warm white version?

Hey Thorfire, neutral tint, PLEASE!

Seriously… everyone wants a neutral tint option. Why not just offer it on all of your lights?

Serious question.

Thanks,
Caleb

Codes still good?

we’ll buy anything with a code, just give us codes :money_mouth_face:
