Same question you asked an the other thread, but now without the qualifier about not modifying the lite. All protected 21700 batteries are in fact re-wraps. The battery factory only issues the batteries as flat top unprotected cells. I trust both Thrunite and Orbtronics cells to be of high quality and fairly well meet the labeled specs. The Orbtronic cells are 12.95 each for 5000 mah 21700 cells and can be charged in the light or in any charger that charger that supports the added length. The light must be modified to use them however. The thrunite batteries showed up the other day on the thrunite site for, I think, 25.95 each, but having just checked it doe not show now. A similar highly modified 21700 5000mah battery does, but it has a plastic insulator vertical around the button, so would not work in this light. Availability of replacement cells will be up to Thrunite, and will be roughly twice the price of the Orbtronics. It is possible that modifying the light to accept orbtronic batteries will void the warranty. These are the facts as I know them, the choice is the buyers. I modified the light and put insulators on top of the Thrunite batteries, and will mainly use orbtronic batteries which are usually available. I will usually charge them in my XTAR VC8 charger as will I charge the Thrunite batteries.
