I would like to purchase a D4 with aux LEDs, and a D4S …… and then my collection will be complete, no more buying! And also that custom lantern GB, and ……
Well that explains why even MTN has their D4s on “sale” and just about everyone is out of stock.
Figures I finally jumped into 2 D4s with Anduril right before this happens….
Stainless bezel is definitely nice for the EDC durability crowd, and the new Aux board looks great. That also explains the somewhat recent host changes with the slightly larger hole in the MCPCB shelf.
I hope the new improved D4 model hits the market soon. It looks like Emisar really listened to the feedback and have addressed pretty much all concerns:
Complaints about lack of knurling - fixed on new model.
Complaints about aluminum bezel being too fragile and breaking when dropped - fixed on new model with optional SS bezel.
Complaints about lack of Bezel aux leds - fixed on new model.
Complaints about protruding switch button - hard to tell from the pictures but it looks like the switch is recessed on updated model.
UI - based on that last run of D4s I expect Anduril UI to be optional.
The D4 was around before anything with Aux LEDs even existed so I wouldnt call that a complaint, just a suggestion/improvement. As for an illuminated side switch, due to size/pin outputs/durability/cost it may have not been doable. Hardly an oversight. People are always going to complain about something no matter what is improved. They could implement all these changes including the switch LED then its now a $50 light. Now people whine that its too expensive.
TBH though, id take a illuminated switch over aux LEDs any day, especially on a side switch light.
If they offer a Copper D4 V2, I may buy a 3rd/ my first copper light. I feel like copper with an SS bezel would be sharp looking. Unless they offer Smooth green again then ill need two…
Red, yellow, green, cyan, blue, magenta, rainbow aux LED options is selectable through config UI, as well as the voltage indication function. (6 fast clicks and hold the 7th to choose the aux LED options, 7 fast clicks to choose the aux LED modes)
I was wondering how that would be user configurable, guess I’m still wondering how they get all those colors for aux LEDs in there. . . .
Is the D4v1 only sold out but will be restocked or will it be discontinued ?
I’m fine with mine like it is, a lighted switch would have been a plus but I generally turn off the auxiliary LEDs of my flashlights. 10$ more for knurling and aux LEDs which I can do without is a price increase that is not worth it for me.
