Trustfire 3T6 by 'today's' standards?

If I were chinese, I would make that guarantee… along with the claims of an AR lens, 10k lumens and a place in heaven for you and all of your relatives. Having said that, I always have beer in the fridge for a friend… drop by some time.

The five SRK’s I bought were ordered at different times and all drew 6.6A… which is standard for a stock SRK with the good 3 terroid driver on my test cells. As long as they dont change their supplier, you’ll more than likely receive a good one. Once a good version of any flashlight is discovered, its ususally a good idea to buy now rather than take a chance that the design might change later.

This is yet another light that went from great to meh. That light was a descent thrower in its time. But only the initial production run drove the XRE emitters hard enough to be a true “wow” light. Unless something has changed, all subsequent runs (along with the replacement drop-ins sold separately) have all been severely under driven. I was lucky to attain an early example from the first production run. There were several subsequent threads posted by people complaining about the low output and inability to mod/replace the driver.

Also, the pill does not contact the head so there is no way to dissipate heat. I took it apart and rolled a thick tube of copper from 1/4” plate to bridge the gap from the pill to the head and locked it with AA. Aluminum foil wasnt nearly enough to do the trick…

Id love to swap the XRE’s for XPE2’s but its all tightly glued with AA and probably wouldnt be worth the huge hassle.

and I’m probably going to get both! But for the 3T6 I want to get a good one and wondering which version to get:

The Fasttech version has a nice shiny bezel, I like!

The Lightmalls one is suppose to be ^the original?^
.

And what about this one? UltraFire 3T6 I like the looks of this one best, except it only takes 2 batteries, but is it any good? (Searched the forum couldn’t find much about it)

how much brighter would you see with 3 cells. noticable or not really?

WOW! thanks to everyone for sharing all of their experiences with both lights! BLF rocks!!

anyway, I missed the tomtop sale on the 3T6 but based on all the variations out there that may not be a bad thing…

the pros/cons to both lights give great perspective as to what and why… it is interesting that the older 3T6 does hold its place…

I guess the next question/step would be what would be considered an upgrade to the 3T6? I believe someone mentioned the 2010? SRK seems to be a bit of a different beast (runtimes and form factor)…

What other type of ‘torch shaped’ lights would be considered an evolution of this light?

i think it was the trustfire j12 that came next

Regarding one cell: That is a bummer. I generally have mine loaded with 3 4/3F ni-mh which is 3.6 volts. I’ve played with the idea of getting another 3T6 specifically to have in stubby mode for the glove box. It’s well documented in some of the monster 3T6 threads that it can run on one cell.

Regarding Fasttech vs Lightmalls. I purchased mine quite some time ago. I would hope Lightmalls still carries the same light. Fasttech is a topnotch company. They are probably both selling the same light.

Next evolution. I guess since the TR-J12 or J18 since were talking flooders. I don’t have any experience with those lights. They consume too much juice for my taste. When it comes to serial battery configs, I prefer to keep the current fairly low.
