TrustFire T90-2 Luminus SST-90 @FASTTECH

Sounds like a good idea. One last thought. You may get more participation if the cells are an option or if they are not included. Those cells are expensive and some already have cells. You may want that in the feeler question.

That’s a good point. I’ll definitely consider that.

However, the presentation of the whole kit is quite nice—there’s a nice aluminum carrying case w/ foam cutouts for the charger and batteries. But again, I’ll ask.

interesting, so does that side switch only change modes? or can i turn it on/off too? because i notice it still has a tail cap switch.
if the side switch turns on/off, ill be interested in the group buy

To the more experienced forum members—where do you think I should put the feeler thread for maximum exposure on this site?

i think to start a new threaad under 26650 light column title it something with group buy in it.

Well, I’ve been playing with this light for a little while, and I do like it. TrustFire claims the driver puts out about 9A at the emitter to a SST-90. Another one of their lights, the X7, takes to the MT-G2 remarkably well.

After tossing an MT-G2 into this light, the numbers are quite astonishing. I haven’t been able to run a full battery (ha) of tests, because it trips the protection circuit on 3x 32650’s. But I saw about 7A at the tail before it tripped. Going to do some serious reinforcing of this light now. This is going to get interesting…

Congrats rollinstone157, sounds like a great light. Looking forward to hearing about your progress.

Thanks! I’m now much more motivated to try and beat the threadlocker on the driver retaining ring. I have glue dissolver on the way from China (if I die all of a sudden…well that’s probably why. Gonna treat that stuff like it’s Mercury), and I’m going to try putting some long nails in a 2x4 to create a lever that should help give me better grip on the retaining ring.

I’ll be sure to post pics of the driver and such, and any modifications that I may make!

I don’t know about your light, but some lights have reverse (AKA left-handed) threaded retaining rings. That has tripped me up more than a couple times.

No matter how good this light is, its just to expensive.

Lets compare it to TK61 which can be had for ~ 145$

One simple resistor mod, puts TK61 to around 250.000 cd….with WAY less heat, superior build and beam quality, superior runtimes, less bulky, better driver, more efficient, better anodizing, better reflector, and so on….

Hy,

i modded the Trustfire T90-2 to 713 Kcd, so it outperforms even the TK61vn, but sure the TK61 has very much portential. I changed the Driver to an LCK 5A Driver, inserted an XP-G2 S2 2B and replaced the Lens (93mm) to an UCLp from Flashlightlens. I ordered the Flashlight from Alibaba, so i didn´t pay 187 US$ .

This thing is huuuuge!

Disassembled. This was very hard as the head is completely glued.

LCK 5A Driver with an adapter made from brass

Dedomed XP-G2 R5 2B in the meantime changed to XP-G2 S2 2B dedomed

Well centered.

93mm UCLp Lens

Two Beamshots about 250metres, 3 Sec., F=4,5, ISO400

As the LCK Driver overheated (not potted), the driver died some weeks ago. I replaced it temporarily with a Trustfire TR-0163b (5A) until the light goes to a german modder (more Kcd ). Then the Driver will be replaced with the LCK Driver again. The Driver will be potted then, too and the LED will get a spacer to get deeper into the reflector.

Wow!

Hy,

thanks

EDIT: I tested the original Driver with XM-L2 on Noctigon @8,3A. Both tested LED died after some seconds … J)

Hy,

just another Beamshot from a meeting in Germany made by The_Driver. Distance to the target is about 270 metres.

Hy,

the modded T90-2 was measured with a calibrated Gossen Mavolux 5032B at 825 Klux/Kcd last weekend

wow nice beamshots

Awesome mod. I've loved this light since I saw it the first time :-) Thank you for sharing.

This light is epic with an MT-G2 as well as an XM-L2!

Trying to set a subscription to this thread. Am interested in l_o_n_g throwers for use at sea.

Incredible work Kenjii. What a beast! Congrats
