I wanted a Z1 but it is only 3 mode (H M Strobe) so I got the Z2 (AA/14500) and like it fine.

Yeah that’s strange, a lot of those links are for a large 2 x 18650 light.

I have one of the old Trustfire Z1s running on a 16340 it’s a great little light. I use mine for my gun safe light with the reflector removed for more flood and it has been used daily for over a year.

Other than the battery tube, I believe it’s the same as the Z2. I love the Z2. If the Z2 had a nice moonlight low, I’d call it the perfect backpacking light.

Since I love my Z1 -- I'm really liking this Z2 especially the magnetized bottom part which the Z1 doesn't have. I don't like the 5 modes though.
