Based on Paul’s close relationship with his now serious WWE brother and his own YouTube brand, I’m betting that Paul deliberately stepped on Tyson’s shoeless foot to see what type of reaction he’d get in order to better guage his strategy as advised by his trainers.
In my opinion, this is a serious heavyweight fight with my prediction changing a bit from Tyson winning in 4 rounds to 3, but still ending with a TKO.
I’m going to bed before the fight (I’ve been up for over 24 hours).
When I eventually get up, I’ll eat breakfast, watch the fight, then surf the web (in that order) so that I don’t accidentally spoil the fight.
Nobody would care to see the fight if they didn’t train and rolled up with beer bellies. But taking a fall and actually taking the trauma of a knockout punch are not the same thing, and they make money just for showing up. The beef just feels manufactured to me.
Likewise, I don’t think people would care about this fight if an assumed “has been” and self-proclaimed “problem child” showed up looking like they only put “some effort” into their training. That’s why it’s obvious to even non-athletes that both of these athletes, especially “Iron Mike” have dedicated many months of hardcore training to prepare for this fight.
While I’m not necessarily a fan of Tyson, I am a serious speed & strength athlete who can see that he’s in incredible shape, regardless of age.
I’m not trying to change anyone’s opinion of either of these guys, nor promoting this fight; it’s simply my opinion that this event is anything other than a serious bout between a couple of guys who don’t really care for one another…which is where this fight holds its entertainment appeal for me.
As always, thanks for sharing your respectful thoughts with me. Now I have to return to my own training before I lose my desire to keep going! Enjoy the fight!
“The latest Mike Tyson vs. Jake Paul odds from FanDuel list Paul as the -245 favorite (risk $245 to win $100) to win, with Tyson as a +194 underdog (risk $100 to win $194).” https://www.cbssports.com/boxing/news/jake-paul-vs-mike-tyson-props-odds-time-best-bets-picks-for-nov-15-heavyweight-fight-by-boxing-expert
I’m actually surprised that Mike Tyson is the underdog (as of 2 hours ago.)
I don’t gamble, but I would be surprised if Jake Paul won this fight.
That said, I watch a decent amount of heavyweight boxing, and I predict the winning boxer only 50%-65% of the time.
(I think I usually root for the boxer that is favored to win, but that isn’t the reason that I choose those boxers.)
I’m not a boxing expert or anything.
I’m just a fan that is not very good at predicting boxing matches.
By the way, if anyone is thinking about gambling against the house, my advice is:
Don’t do it.
I did extremely well in math classes throughout my life, and I learned something that most people are aware of:
The odds are almost always in favor of the house.
The more that you gamble against the house, the more likely it is that you will lose money.
For sports gambling, the percentage of gamblers that make any money is extremely low (like 5%).
The only time that it makes sense to gamble is when the odds are in your favor, and that almost never happens when gambling against the house.
You need to have some sort of competitive advantage (or inside information), and the vast majority of gamblers don’t have that when gambling against the house.
There’s too much money on Tyson, that’s the way they move the bets , odds
The house is happy when there’s even money, that way they use your money to pay bets. They make money from the Juice
Agreed. The main event was a total bore. All that training by Tyson to get in great shape only to dance around Paul’s reach. Thankfully the other fights salvaged the evening…except for the head butting thing by Martin.
What really pissed me off was Netflix buffering the entire night on my big screen. Fortunately, or rather unfortunately, I was able to watch it on my 8" tablet…yay.
Buffering for here was only near the end of the Women’s bout , Had 2 feeds going, one on 23" desktop and other 55" tv.
Was able to back out and re enter and it usually cleared up.
Over Netflix did a much better job of live TV than Amazon Prime when they started the Thur. night games. Those first like 3 weeks were torture and their picture quality is still nowhere near as good as Netflix.
It never crashed out total so overall it gets a B-, love to know the total feeds going for the worldwide deal.
I don’t have Netflix.
There’s a bunch of unauthorized versions showing up on YouTube about 26 minutes long. A few things cut out in between rounds.
The reach and age were too much for Tyson to overcome
I just watched the match.
Tyson came out strong, but I think he got injured in the 3rd round.
Paul dominated rounds 3 through 8.
Tyson took a lot of punishment in the later rounds.
I’m actually surprised that Tyson lasted all 8 rounds.
I don’t think that Paul was trying hard enough in the later rounds, but he easily won by decision.
By the way, I’m used to rooting for older guys.
Before Tom Brady retired, I frequently rooted for his teams, and Tom Brady was quite old in football years.
I still root for LeBron James even though he’s past his prime and the Lakers are not that great.
Before the boxing match, I thought that Mike Tyson would win the fight, and I was wrong (of course.)
For heavyweight boxing fans, check out:
Dec. 21: Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (DAZN PPV) – Title fight: Oleksandr Usyk vs. Tyson Fury, 12 rounds, for Usyk’s undisputed heavyweight championship
I don’t know what will happen in that fight, but that should be a real fight compared to yesterday’s spectacle fight.
Maybe Tyson was up past his bedtime, Sure looked like it. Did anybody catch when his trainer told him, you missed your chance to get him in the corner. I don’t believe he ever wanted to win that fight. Even when he fought Jones jr , he never sat back like he did last night.
Netflix streaming sucked. The women should have gotten the big money.
After the fight was over, both Jake Paul and Mike Tyson were respectful of each other.
Jake Paul’s brother was a bit of a prick when Tyson said that Tyson might fight him next.
I loved it when Mike Tyson was questioned about biting his boxing glove/s over and over again during the match (something that Tyson has done in the past, too.)
Tyson said, “I have a biting fixation.”
