I've been taking off the charge port surface mount off the driver when I mod those. The Warsun X60, for example, has a simple connector surface mounted on the driver PCB direct to batt - and batt +. The X60 pill opening is really tight in height, so the charge port connector has to go so I can piggyback in a BLF17DD with e-switch support of course.

EDIT: I just checked. Most of my kitchen knives, even the nice ones, are attracted to magnets. Maybe they are some type of carbon steel, I don't know.

The LED MCPCB is sitting on a really narrow perimeter ledge. There is nothing but air under the MCPCB.
The magnet in mine was so weak, it couldn’t hold the light even without a battery installed.
LED is dim, and very cool. Not worth modding. Mine went in the trash.
This is the view down the head. The little ledge you see is the only contact point under the LED MCPCB.
Yay! Excellent opportunity for a copper disk. I may even put a copper sleeve in there to move the heat up the head faster. Thinking the charging port will have a beacon light put in it since Cereal_Killer's driver can have a separate beacon.
That AliExpress Yupard sure looks identical, accept they say Samsung LED while BG says CREE XPG. Listed dimensions are slightly smaller for the Yupard but dimensions are often wrong. Putting in a shelf is a challenge or simply not an option for many. If it's a hollow pill, probably other areas are poor quality - no go for me as it is.
Good idea, some sort of clear silicone / poly plug to fill the hole and transmit the light while being waterproof.
Are you meaning find a 5/3/2mm encapsulated LED to stick out the hole (flush), or a SMD (0803/0603) emitter under it?
There is still one pin left, it’s really be cool to get it coded to run a RGB 5mm led and show batt status instead of just flashing.
Oh god…if we could get a GB with a solid pill and just the hole for the charging port to do this, I am sooo in. XD

house and funds in the way…I got a quad board, need to build the spacer and get some XP-G2’s or XP-L’s…
I will say this…not alot of meat in the head w/o a good heavy spacer to wick heat away…running it hard w/o some sort of auto throttling, it will get HOT fast
