I have 2 tritium watches. On one the hands are green (Marathon), on the other they are orange (Nite). I would never get the orange again, in fact I would only buy a watch with the green in future. If I could afford it I’d probably get a SMW T25 Commander as my next Tritium watch.
Mine is permanently on my keychain, and I have used it a couple of times. Had quite a WOW reaction from a few people that so much light can be produced from something so small.
So I stumbled upon this world of flashlights in a search for the smallest quality light possible for my edc. All of this is very new to me. What is the deal with trits? Is it mainly a style thing?
This light, the Valeno Quantum D2 is not an EDC... it's a very very small BACKUP light... meaning a light of last resort. On highest setting you will only get a few minutes run time.
The smallest EDC I would suggest would be a Zebralight SC52w. It works perfectly well on rechargeable, and regular batteries.
Trits - tritium inserts are small capsules with tritium gas inside. The gas is very slightly radioactive, and as a result of the radioactive decay it glows slightly. Not very bright at all, but enough to help you find whatever the tritium is on, assuming it's completely dark. The glow lasts 10-20 years, and does not need "charging... it will always glow. It's really cool to have, but gets to be rather pricey very quickly.
