Very new to torches - BLF Q8 Firmware

I bought my first “enthusiast” torch a week ago, and so far I have been pleased with it. But I was reading on the web and thought I found saying something that the firmware it uses is available for download and modification. Is that true? As a programmer, I’d love to have a chance to play around with the firmware that the torch uses.
