Thanks a lot! I just last night told myself I wouldnât be buying any more lights! Too much money being spent, I said to myself after ordering more IMR cells.
And now this! Holy Frijole Batman! So beautiful! So Powerful! So well constructed! How can I get one? Where will I find the funds? Need! Want! Must have!
Oh yeah, THANKS Foy!
Now I will also have to convince MRsDNF that he simply must build me a pure copper host to put this gorgeous creature in! Iâm double damned!

It is amazingly pretty. Does he make extreme thrower p60s?
only best batteries
Great review and stunning drop-ins
Is there a contact email for Vinz, I think I might have to get a Quad XP-G2
But will I spend my $105 for this drop-in or a BTU shocker at $99? Maybe Iâll skip this at this time.
I was about to pull the trigger for the Shocker, but nowâŚI need the 219 and the XPG! But how? Please share!
This thread is NSFW. Its just full of P60 porn! ;)
105$ is a lot of money for a drop-in, but I don't think the product is overpriced. Its just a proper premium product, custom made and top notch.
Foy, how long would you use these drop-ins on high before dimming them down due to heat?
How well do these transfer heat to the flashlight body? My (relatively limited) understanding is that the limitation of the P60 design is the transfer of heat from the drop-in to the body, which is why people using aluminum foil, etc. Does this drop-in sit flush or somehow overcome that issue? I cannot imagine wrapping such a beautiful piece with aluminum foil. Gorgeous work!
Vinz made me a single XM-L2 emitter drop-in in the same batch he made for Foy. It was less than the triple and quadruple and I must say I think it is the best flashlight related money I have spent ever. My drop-in is configured for more everyday use with 1 sec mode memory divided on 4 modes (7L/40L/240L/800L) which gives a good combination of performance and runtime. The drop-in fits my L2P just absolutely perfect and needs a little push to come into place.
I used the light extensively and for long periods on high last night when doing the yearly night guard shift at my boat club and I did not notice that the light got hot at all. It changed temperature, but didnât get hot. The XinTD v4 I used in parallel for throw and comparison got noticeable warmer after a couple of minutes on high (it is also an amazing light that should be in everyoneâs collection).
I could write forever about the beautiful T6-3D tint and how great the TIR lens work, etc. but the iPad keyboard is driving me crazy. To keep it short: you will not get disappointed if you get a Vinz drop-in. For sure.
Thanks Foy for sharing the detailed pictures of your new jewelry and your always amusing, yet relevant opinions. Keep it coming!
Bak,
How much was the single XM-L2 emitter drop-in? Maybe this one is much more affordable.
Thank you everyone . . .
http://budgetlightforum.com/user/1538 Just message Vinz and he will hook you up.
With the triple drawing near 4 amps and the quad pulling 5.45, questions about heat are valid. On high, the quad in a P1d (thick, heavy host) my laser thermometer measures 150° at the base of the head after about 10 minutes. To do a proper run time test, I'll have to keep wrapping it with a wet rag or something because the PD cells seem willing to keep feeding it all the juice it wants. The triple Nichia gets to 140° (in an L2X) in about the same amount of time and informally, with the PDs both modules start dimming in maybe, 45-50 minutes.
It is important to note that the 2-mode quad on low (200 lumens) hardly gets hot at all and it takes at least 5-8 minutes on high before bare handed use becomes impossible.
Interestingly, the triple Nichia has become Foy's go-to light. It has reminded me how much more useful a proper flooder is for 90% of my flashlight needs. Even on high, nothing is ever washed out and you don't actually have to aim the light. Just turn it on somewhere in the general vicinity and I promise; whatever needs to be lit up absolutely will be. Definitely has Foy drinking the high CRI Kool-Aid.
Comments about price are also valid, of course and a buck-five is large coin for a P60 drop-in, no matter how good it is. I will say this however - it wasn't that long ago when Nailbenders were fetching almost that much with less performance and none of the art. No doubt about it; this is a pricey, hand made boutique item made in very limited production. Buying something from Vinz is an experience all by itself. You and he will discuss and agree on every detail and it's not unusual for him to glue and remove several emitters, for example, before he is satisfied with the tint and beam profile. The first PCBs he got from Illumination Supply for the quad had solder points that were 1-2mm off-center, which he said made "a horrible beam pattern." So, Foy waited another week.
I think it fitting to install a $105 module in a $30 host. Just remember that your $135 P60 cannon has about the same output as a Shadow S-L3!

Thanks for the link
Since when does IS sell bare quad PCBs?
Great dropins. Vinz surely does make astonishing work.
Thanks. :)
Since I have a big anniversary coming up, was knocking around the idea of buying a small reasonably priced piece of âjewelryâ for the wife⌠and if she didnât like it, I would get to keep it.
Triple or Quad?
Well, at least I would have great light to find the way to my new home - out in the doghouse!
Nice work Foy (and Vinz)
Any idea if this will correctly fit a true surefire?
P-60 drop in. I am willing to bet it does, but contact Vinz and ask him.
he replies but slowly, i want to just get info and hurry and get an order in, haha
It will fit a 6P but I think it might not work with the head on a 6P LED. I had to use a Solarforce head.
