I am sorry but i will not out anyone, because we don’t know just yet how much they really have gone out of business.
But if you look around this forum for example there are plenty of evidence for this, but less now because just because of this fear some of us including me, have scrubbed some of our post from references that could be held against those i am speaking of
Who knows if you’ll see again? 0:) A man on this forum to the best of my knowledge cut a quality plastic meniscus lens to make the first, “reflective aperture”, in 2005 using 3M material. The recipe of coating has since evolved on them, greatly.
That’s true for everyone I know except for MEM. His outperform the Waivien collars. I don’t remember offhand what his gain was, but I believe it’s 10-20% more. Waivien collars are repurposed and modified from a different application, and it’s obvious that the quality of their modification leaves something to be desired, as well as the quality of the modified part. They’re good, but not great, and definitely not worth their original asking price.
If you don’t think that MEM knows what he is talking about you should check out his previous posts here, if you are even a tiny bit interested in these things i think your mind will be blown just like mine was :).
i did not say that i don´t trust his words but i personally did see some attempts and have some of these here. None of them - and they look really great build and i believe the builder knows what he does - works as good as the Wavien.
Yes. It’s possible that nobody will step up to the plate now that Wavien is gone. After all… it wasn’t profitable for them. Why would it be profitable for someone else?
If nobody steps up, this might just be an item that ceases to exist on the open market. If you want a wavien collar equivalent in the future you might have to buy one of the few leftover wavien collars at astronomically jacked up prices or try your hand at making your own.
