Update: Noctigon’s came in today, got the XM-L2 U2 1A soaking in gas, my now calibrated extech meter also came today and I’ve been measuring all my lights comparing the results to he numbers I’ve previously gotten off my HS1010 meter from FT. I’m measuring at 3 meters and doing the math, at 1m with the [dome intact] Al mounted -L2 U2 1A I was only getting a very disappointing 6,800Lux at 3 amps. Since this is a toy and not really a useful light anyway while I’m waiting on the dome to fall off I’ve also pulled the driver for direct drive, I’m pretty confident the heat sink can handle whatever the switch can deliver (the switch in this light is a small omten with braided spring but being press fit it doesn’t have the greatest ground path so it’ll be the limiting factor).
I’m going to measure again with the dome on Al star to see what gains a dedomed emitter on Cu will provide. Once it’s all done (tomorrow night) I’ll get some beam shots and post the final numbers.
