+1 on the Nitecore HC50 too, I have it also. Very nice head light. :+1:
Nitecore HC60/HC50, Skilhunt H02 for cheaper, H03 for couple of bucks more.
For a small one: Nitecore NU20.
That 8USD Boruit goes as a budget option.
Thunite TH20. My most used light.
I'll throw in another vote for the xtar H2.
Good suggestions guys. I’ll add a list to the OP.
Some headlamps I like for 1x18650 or 1xAA:
Imalent HR20
JETBeam HR20
Lumintop Hl01
Spark headlamps (expensive but very good quality from what I know)
Thrunite TH10
I splurged last year on the ZebraLight H600Fd Mk. III.
High-CRI, a great 5000K CCT, and the usual ZL quality make this a favorite of mine.
ZL tests LED individually to get the best tints.
Now, I'm looking for a budget headlamp to back it up. Skilhunt is pretty high on my radar.
Nitecore HC50 - perfect light when doing DIY car repair - has the right amount of spill which covers all the field of view.
Skilhunt H03 - nice light, but used rarely because of the Nitecore HC50 although it is brighter than HC50
I can recommend the Skilhunt H03 highly - never had any problems with mine.
I have the TIR lens version, and it provides just the right amount of even spill light for working close in my crawlspace, to finding things in my attic, and enough ‘reach’ on the high mode (not even turbo) - giving plenty of light for night-time snowblowing and shoveling this winter.
I have lots of lights now (need to do a count some day, but more seem to arrive all the time!) and this has become one of my go-to lights. Easy to use, nice light, decent run times and all that hands free!
It’s great to play with my throwers, and it’s nice to have a Ti Tool in my pocket, but when I need to get some work done, this is almost always the light I grab.
love it!
I already said the above up in post #12. I’d add the Nitecore HC50 is right in there with it to. I have both & like them equally as well. HC60 has USB charging if that is ‘your cup of tea’.
I have the Nitecore HC30, Skilhunt H03F, & IMALENT HR20. All three are angle head flashlights basically, to me anyway.
While they are all very nice lights , I just cannot get used to wearing them as a head light…. and I have tried.
“Personally”, I would much rather have the LED pretty much centered on my forehead.
Therefore, for me; I have not found anything that will touch the Nitecores I mentioned in the single 18650 configuration.
.
How about the Crelant CH10 ?
XML-2, ramping, 1 x 18650, $22 at Fasttech.
I liked it so much I bought another for the toolcase.
Have you seem any videos for it in english? I can’t find any.
It looks intriguing, but I’d like to know how the 2 levels are set and function.
It seems a lot of these lights can take a 20mm tir lens to get a wider beam pattern.
I tossed a 60* lens, that I got from MTN for 55 cents, into my Boruit RJ02 and the beam is much nicer for close up work like soldering or mechanic work. The led they use is still a little too blue for my tastes.
Used my Skilhunt H03 for about 3 hours today; it's really good. Good strap, nice light, good UI, reasonable price.... Like.
if making a list you have to consider thencool factor of the
acebeam H10
Also, if the emitter’s centered or offset.
For close-in work, an offset emitter just drives me buggy. Maybe I’m just too OCD or ADHD or some other acronym, but…
Wouldn’t that very from light to light or would they all be the same from the factory floor?
It doesn’t matter to me because I’ll toss a 60* or wider tir lense on it for close up work. You can’t tell if the emitter is offset or not.
Or do you mean an L shaped light as apposed to a T shaped light?

Or do you mean an L shaped light as apposed to a T shaped light?
This.
The weird asymmetric shadows just grate on me after a while.
Again, this is only for close-in work.
Thrunite TH20 if you want AA compatibility. I love mine. It has my favourite UI. It’s also quite floody and is available in NW, which I prefer in a headlamp.
The more I read the more it sounds like zebralight is a top pick if you’re not too concerned about cost. I don’t actually have one myself.

That’s my favorite out of a shoe box full of choices
For an AA headlamp, I recommend the Zebralight series, H52w, H53w H53c, H53fc.
For 18650, I recommend the Zebralight h600 series, Armytek Wizard, and Skillhunt H03.
Exact model really depends on your preference of tint, CRI and beam pattern.
