may have certain advantages? as it has a plastic lens and plastic reflector where the above tomtop Q5 C8 I mentioned and XM-L have ally and glass, in a tumble plastic may be less dodgy near eyes? Good starter torch for a youngster too.
I have two of these plastic ones and they are really nicely put together and throw a really tight hotspot with a decent enough and wide spill and although non-memory you can shake them about and they do not change mode, the pills are good and tight also and I have not modded mine in anyway and have found no problems. Run times are excellent and even cheap UF2400 would give several hours on high, I use ex-laptop 2200 Sanyo's in my pair. Incidentally they have a longer ie. less tight lanyard than other UF c8's i have so fit thicker wrist's. They are about a £1 more though!
Not XM-L T6 league but fine with way more run time and also a back-up for punctures, ride out/home, main torch problems etc. Xtar 2600/panasonic 3100 fit too.
I hate to pimp what is not considered a budget flashlight, but 4Sevens is selling the Preon 2 Satin Titanium "Black Edition" for less than $32.00 with code CPF8. I have been EDCing a ti for two years and use it constantly. 10 year warranty. If you wear a shirt with pockets, this is a steal. http://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?cPath=297_332_367&products_id=1932
I am not sure if free shipping is offered outside the U.S. though.
