The Kizer Microbe? It’s great for what it is. The scales are rounded and the handle is a little chonky for such a small knife. That makes the ergonomics good in use. Action and lock-up are nice. The only issue is deployment. I have large hands with long fingers, so it’s a little awkward to actuate. With smaller knives like the Spyderco Dragonfly, I rely on the clip for purchase. On this one, the clip is lower-profile so I’m still figuring it out. I picked up both the thumb stud and hole versions to experiment.
… and today’s carry with an early start to the weekend…

Good to know… I’m thinking about snagging one whenever I see it cheap enough. It’s funky enough to catch my eye.
The original Michter’s Distillery is near me.
Cool history ;
I’ve only had their bourbon, rye, and American whiskeys. All are good but the American really stands out for me. My neighbor almost exclusively drinks their rye.
… and today’s carry. I managed to catch a fail in real time here…

What are your thoughts on the Rex 45 steel? I picked up a Manix2 LW in Rex45 a while back , but really have not used it enough to come to any solid conclusions.

I absolutely LOVE me some Rex45. It’s actually been my favorite steel since I first got this knife back in 2019. I’ve also got a Shaman and Native Chief in Rex45 as well. When I was working in the warehouse at work, that’s when Rex45 really shined for me and stood out amongst the rest. I’ve found it tends to roll rather than chip, like when I cut through some plastic banding and my edge caught a screw head that wasn’t totally screwed in. Barely any damage besides a roll, and that was easily sharpened out. I’ve reprofiled all 3 knives and sharpening response was excellent as well. As you know, I’m partial to Spyderco and they just nailed it with Rex45.
What TwoSun is that?
