From a raw performance standpoint the de-domed emitters are better for sure but some of us can’t stand the tint shift. I would much prefer less throw and a tint I can be proud of.

De-domed is still to be discussed but will have to wait until we find a manufacture. Only if the manufacture has had experience de-doming LED’s and is willing to do so again would we be able to consider that.

How about slicing?

XHP35HI is “sliced”. That is a very easy process and does not change the tint. So It can be done to a top level XHP35. To gain 10-15% intensity more than XHP35HI,.

This is something we are going to discuss with the manufacture. According to Dale a sliced XHP35 outputs close to 40% more lumens then a HI version. I have an XHP35 here that I plan to test myself once I get the test rig finished.

If the manufacture can handle this, then it will be considered for sure. It would give us a hefty heads up over the TN42.

I WOULD NOT be satisfied with a big ass flashlight that outputs only 1500 lumens just for the sake of a pencil beam that throws 800m. My choice, hands down is the XHP35 LED

I’m all for a good thrower but not if its a pencil beam laser. A 5 foot hotspot at 1000 yards just isn’t practical for me.

Tints will be discussed later but it will not be super cool, there will of course be a neutral white option if not the only option. That will be figured out later.

But that adds to the laser beam effect. Also power must not be wasted, even 1% will make a lot of difference.

118 / 128 total = 0.92

Over 90% of people would be satisfied with an XHP-35 HI

I recently got XHP35 E4 1A and after dedoming it turned out that the sutiation is the same as XPL and XPL Hi- it performs at least 20% better than the Hi version
Still wondering though….those W2 binned XPL give 2k lumens easy at 6 amps, XPL2 will be even better on a long term base …

For me i cant decide realy, ofc i could mod it to my needs but i aint sure what whould be the best for the ppl here

Haven’t been around lately. Where can I find the W2 binned emitters? Running a V6 in the build below. Where is the 120mm reflector coming from?

Bought this SR90 reflector a couple years back and wanted to build my ultimate thrower. The reflector housing, copper heatsink were machined on my lathe & mill. The lens is from flashlightlens.com and is UCLp. The driver is the mighty HX –1175B1 pushing a dedomed XP-L V6 1D at about 6A at the tailcap at about 4.8V. Power is supplied by 4 Tenergy 10,000mah NiMH batteries. Maxtoch BLF-TE for size reference. Don’t know the kcd but it handily spanks the Maxtoch BLF-TE and my modded Yezl Y3 with UCLp…
