I’ve had ceramic bowls, cups, mugs, etc., get “scuffed” that way, and not even Brillo, etc., gets it off. Maybe even one of my Corelle plates, too, would have to check.
But it’s on the smooth surfaces, not the rough/unglazed parts on the bottoms.

Actually, it may have been a pocket clip that caused it. Haven’t tried cleaning it bar a wipe with detergent, it’s a light that I’ve never really used, I fiddled an bit and installed a blue led tailcap but that’s about it. I have some perfumers alcohol, I’ll give it a clean.
thanks for investigating
If the alcohol does not remove the metal from the pocket clip that was abraded onto the MAO, the next step would be to use a mild abrasive, such as a jewelers polishing cloth, which is capable of removing metal oxide, (patina)…
Turpentine!
How are you gonna tease us with a Starburst candy color assortment of emitters and NOT give us a beamshot?
I don’t think that all those cheap lights are anodized. It is painted or coated what ever but that is not anodation. Maybe Zebralight it is.
Could also try Flitz. I’ve been using it for years on my knives to clean them up. A little before and after.
I think it probably is anodisation and not paint or coatings. Suggesting only Zebralight use ano is ridiculous. Maybe some of the really cheap stuff is just run through a spray shop, but most lights are anodised to one of several standards.
It’s not a great process in terms of pollution, the anodising plants are outside of highly populated areas because they produce such toxic fumes.
Perfumers alcohol (96% ethanol) has shifted some but not all the mark. I’d say it’s definitely the way to go for general grey scrapes on MAO.
I’ll get some for you tonight
Bro that is a handsome knife
How about turpentine?
that is also a solvent, but it stinks and leaves a residue, so I would use alcohol to remove any stains caused by dirty lube from the threads …
or a fine abrasive such as a jewelers rouge cloth, to remove any metalic residue, such as from a clip, if alcohol is not sufficient…
This MAO TS10 is my EDC today:
Super lightweight, Great ergonomics, and the tailcap shape is really comfortable when I hold the light in my mouth.
Thanks, one of my favorites. Love the olive green/black combo. It’s a Delica exclusive from DLT Trading a few years back. They run other models in this same color scheme/steel from time to time, though I think the last model released came out a few years ago.
A native in that color scheme would be very nice
I’m not so bothered about it. Only tried the alcohol because I had some and wondered if it worked. The stain is right in the clip ring and I only had a corner of a glass cloth to get in there with so it’s got some of it but not all.
