I’ve been running one of these myself for the past month or so. Absolutely blown away by what it does and how much more use the light is on the road and also on the trail. The only complaint I have is that it kills throw, simple solution for me is to run a second light with the standard lens. I’ll have to do a comparison when I get my second light with some decent beam shots, that’s if I can persuade my photographer friend that she wants to come and stand in a cold field for an evening.
Is that lens made out of glass or plastic?
It’s plastic but allegedly ‘optical grade’. It takes it from a 30deg beam to an 8*30deg so makes it wide and flat, cutting off the top and bottom which is what gives you issues using those MS clones on the road. So long as I angle my beam down I can now use High on the road without drivers trying to kill me. It also means you’re not chasing the throw, mounted on bars moving just a little amplifies the movement at the end of the throw so twisty sections of trail were a real pain.
You want to CAREFULLY split the two sides open. My main tools are a screwdriver/spudger and a few pliers. Needlenose to remove the tabs. So far i have only done it to lenovo batteries. Since lenovo only bought IBM in the past few years they are usually not that old. I have gotten 36 Sanyo’s and 8 Sony out of 5-6 packs. The batteries are just pressed together and glued. Its not fun work and you should do it outside in-case you cause a short, but the results have been worth it. Big plus if you can get the packs for free from someone tossing them out!

Today I received my Terminator review sample from Black Shadow and I also received a Naithawk M.a from another incredibly thoughtful member here on BLF.
Both lights are outstanding examples of design and engineering. What a phenomenal day! 8)
After years of messing with cheap, quirky, and often unreliable DMMs, I finally broke down and bought an expensive (albeit at a good deal) Fluke 87V. Here is the glamor shot tucked in my favorite Grid-It organizer.

Very cool!!
I ordered and got this:

Very close in diameter to a "D" Maglite head. Supposed to be three 3watt leds inside it. I will see how it works, for another inexpensive LED mod for the Mag.
Got it from a US seller on ebay, a 9watt 12volt, Bulb. I will turn it into parallel 3volt in a 1D made by Chicago X.
7?! nice - hope you have 7PCBs on hand ![]()
A 7” cutoff wheel, 2 hacksaw blades, and various nuts, boots, and washers.
Quoting myself. Pretentious huh?
Sometimes I remind myself of Wile E. Coyote.
To keep water out of light/torch?
Oops. Now you know why the coyote always loses.
My 3 watt BridgeLux LED’s came, and I installed them. Now my Mag mod went from 3W warm white to 9W bright white. Doing a ceiling bounce, I would say the output is about the same as my P7 Drop in for another Mag that I did last year.
I see OL is going to do that mod with a 1D Mag that he got from Chicago X. I do know one thing, what ever I did, he will do WAY better.
OL, You say you are going to run it on 3V? I am running mine on 3 -D cell Ni-MH, of course in a 3D Mag. I Know you don’t like Li-Ion, but it would be awesome to go 26650 or even 32650.
got these today ![]()

Well, since I am using 3xAA NiMHs, one could always use a single Li-ion in place of them. The spring would just need to be shorter, but a little snip takes care of that.
