Not really. It’s usually loaded with nuts, dried fruits, sugar, honey, chocolate… it’s really a candybar with less chocolate than something like a Snickers.
One way to achieve that is to “wean” yourself off of full-size candy bars. Buy the minis. Have just one. Space ’em out. Then interleave substitutes. Even the KIND bar I mentioned comes in a mini size. You pay a little more for that extra packaging (like $1 more for same amount of food, when buying a multi-pack), but its worth it. I also freeze them, so they’re a little more enjoyable in the warmer months.
Easiest way to wean yourself off junkfood is to just not buy it.
When I had other people in the house, who’d order pies, cookies, cakes, candies, ice cream, doughnuts, etc., for home-delivery, it was there, so yeah, given the choice between making something and grabbing a handful of cookies, I’d succumb to the latter.
Don’t buy it in the first place, and you’d have to make a special trip to the store to get some, so hey, make some jalapeno poppers or a grilled-cheese samwich or an omelette instead.
Got Oreos last week for the first time in a long time (on sale), so said wtf and got some. Didn’t really enjoy ’em, not like I used to. Before, I’d make a meal out of half a box. Now? Lasted most of the week, and that was almost forcing myself to eat ’em just so’s I could throw out the package for garbage-day.
But PB cups and KitKats? Yeah, I’d eat a Costco-sized box as a meal if left alone with ’em. That’s still my kryptonite or whatever.
Yeh, I once tried Hershey’s “baking cocoa” that looked exactly like the powder used in Nestle’s Quik.
Dumped some in milk, it seemed hydrophobic as it just kinda floated there and didn’t “wet”. After much stirring, I took a sip… and you can guess the next scene.
