I haven’t had a “thank god you have a light” moment as of yet; the closest I’ve come was an outage in 2014 when we were in university class (my course is nocturnal). The contents were on a laptop being passed on in a PowerPoint presentation from a projector, but the room was entirely dark. I pulled out my TN12 2014 NW (that had a nice tint) and set it to Medium mode, “tailstanding” by leaning on the now-useless projector so we wouldn’t get sore eyes. Worthy use of it, I’d say.
My only gripe is that the outage didn’t last long enough for class to finish, for obvious reasons 
It would be useful if there was realization and acceptance after it saved the day but people just go back to dismissive and condescending afterwards
I alway make sure the next time I'm around the ungrateful one's I am carrying one of my best and brighest lights, and something I modded so I can call it mine.
Yeah it's a little spiteful but at least one will always ask where to get one. And my answer is the same. "You can't, I made that light wjat ot is" lol just always makes me feel better
