Which brand of alkalines are the least likely to leak in remotes ?

Hi Bro.

Lots of love from your family and friends in South Wales , UK … Hope you are all keeping well in Hilo … By the way , that charger and big parcel of AAA and AA Eneloops have not yet arrived.

Regards

George.

Easy answer is do a little of each ...Buy some lithium primaries , use the alkalines and buy a few more eneloops next time you catch them on sale ..£1.75= 2.85$ USD.....Remote batteries can die around here pertty quickly stuck down in the cushions w/ the buttons being pushed . especially the light on the remote button . The lithium primaries are noticably lighter so you may want to use them in your edc .

After many minutes of deliberation , I decided to buy the AAA Energiser Lithiums on Ebay for all my remotes … Dated 2025 , the price was £14-99 for 16 batteries … £0.94 per battery.

I will soon have an assortment of spare , part-used AAA alkaline batteries of several different makes and ages … Some , (probably the very old ones) can be disposed of if they fail (under load conditions) on my cheap alkaline battery tester … The better (?) ones can be used in my Wifes assorted electrical devices … No ! … Not those devices … Eye-lash curling devices , nail polishers , tooth brushes etc … I just hope the old alkalines don’t leak in her devices and ruin the peace and quiet of our house.

Glad that’s all sorted now.

Good one march.brown!

All AAA and AA primaries in my remotes are now replaced by the Energiser Lithiums … All Lithiums had voltages over 1.8V open-circuit and all remotes are working well … I now have 12 assorted AAA alkalines to put in my Wifes devices , plus four AA alkalines to go in the childrens torches … All these alkalines actually test OK on my battery testers (under load conditions) … Had to dispose of a few that were near to one volt , even though they were working OK on the remotes … None of the assorted alkalines had any signs of leakage or discolouring.

Maybe I didn’t need to replace all the alkalines , but hopefully I should get a good few years use out of the remotes now without the worry of any cell leakage … Time will tell.

I recently had 2 Duracell AAs leak in my tap light. I called Duracell and complained. Even though one of the batteries had past its expiration date, they sent me a coupon for a free package of batteries and a $7 check.

And once I had one D cell leak in my 5 D cell Maglite, destroying it, and Duracell ended up sending me a $30 check. So when batteries do leak, I let the companies know and get some compensation.
