My friend purchase for hunting sofirn sp33s and says that is good for searching terrain in wood but on field it doesn’t have enougt throw. He try my Convoy L21B sft40 and immediately after that I purchase it for him.
He shot big wolf with mauser 98 30-06 on distance of about 200 meters after his son shine it with L21B.
He said that sometimes he use both flashlight at same moment of time and on that way have throw and flood.
I agree with the recommendations for the Convoy L-series.
I’ve never owned the L-series, but I have several Convoy M-series flashlights.
(L=large sized, M=medium sized)
With the XHP70.3 HI emitter, you can have flood and throw at the same time.
If you need more throw, the SFT40 emitter is the most practical throwy emitter (in my opinion.)
The Convoy L21A has cooling fins, so I would choose it over the L21B because I like cooling fins.
I second the TS32. Good starting point for not too much money. Good throw. Massive flood. Then you can tell us if you need more of something. On board charging. Good thermal mass so you can run for a bit before getting too hot… full bright flood does get warm within a few minutes. Look around for reviews.
As you probably already noticed, it is hard to give a good recommendation without a reference point. If you then need more throw, there are options (you won’t need more flood!)
On sale now. For the most output, the XPL2 option. For the best color and CRI in flood mode, the 519A option. For a compromise of the two and the cheapest price, the LH351D option.
