Which is the most expensive Li Ion flashlight so far?

You just want me to get reported. That would ruin my life. Thanks pal!

The Cool Fall Tri-V, as already reported, is probably the most expensive “table price” out there. And yes, while the website may seem a bit dated, Data is still making and selling those lights. He posts regularly on CPF still.

There are some exotic-material Hankos out there that cost more, but that’s when sold second-hand or through auctions. If you buy directly from Mr Hanko the “table prices” are less than the Tri-V. As for images, just Google search for Hanko Flashlights. Throw in exotic material keywords like “superconductor” or “timascus” or “zirc” if you want to see the more expensive ones.

Since I’m here though - here’s my “normal” titanium Hanko. I bought it at table price for a lot less than the Tri-V….and is still worth less than a Tri-V lol

if you get me a talented 3D designer and machinist here in Europe
+
someone who would invest in the brand

that would be likely possible, turning out in lights that have top specs. materials and machining quality

if you look on todays flashlights the used optics are stone age technology plus poor coatings
i bet most of the flashlight front glasses are so bad they distort the beam making you loose throw, precision optics in the diameter of TN42 or GT can be quick in the 4 digit price range

if you would not look on the price tag you could get unbreakable front glases with a coating you think they are without one
I have worked with laser equipment quite a while to know how good they can be, but also comes with a price tag

Then looking on the reflector
electroformed for precision on larger reflectors
instead cheap aluminum use sealed silver coating you gain a lot

Wha’….MOI!!! Au contrere Mon, Atb. :innocent:

Investment could be done in time, but finding a talented 3D designer and machinist in Europe willing to put in the time and effort is another thing.

Wellp, if anyone wants, I can scratch my initials and maybe a sigil into a C8 clone, and sell it to youse for… say, a nice even quarter-mil?

Then you can crow about the One Of A Kind Expen$ive Light you bought, on Some Other Flashlight-Related Forum.

Call it a Lightbringer X-treme. Serial-number #001. It’s “extreme”, so you know it’s gotta be good!

Make a half-mil, and I can call it the X-treme Tactical!

You’re buying a piece of ‘functional’ art, with that one, so who’s to say the value?

Chris

I’m sticking with a quarter-mil.

Hopefully some day I’ll make a light with performance that will justify a $10k+ cost

Put $9,999.00 into the build and I think you’ll get there at least for the $10,000.00 goal.

I mean, what could the lights use to get up to 10 000$US?

1. Use a CFT-90 5700k.
2. Use 8 x 21700 Samsung 30Ts.
3. Use dual BeCu C17500 Gold Plated 50-75um springs.
4. Use a silver gold plated heatsink.
5. Phase change cooling.
6. Buck boost driver.
7. A massive silver plated reflector/optic.
8. Sapphire AR lens.
9. 3mm thick silver MCPCB for absolute maximum conductivity.
10. Silver wires.
11. Nichia E21A secondary emitters.
12. Lifetime component replacement and upgrade warranty.

Here’s my take :

How about Surefire Porcupine Designed by PK? I really wan that light. Very Unique and appealing.

May not be the most expensive but I love the machining design. Very Cool looking.

Nice looking for sure. But I might be able to MOD Solarforce SS version a little to make it much cooler.

Wouldn’t some searchlights exceed the $5K mark?

Well the BLF GT inspired a lot of manufactures to create huge reflector flashlights,it is becoming to be a race for max throw I see.Maybe if they make ultra giga thrower with 50sm or more diameter reflector it will get very expensive  5000 meters throw huh?

Most expensive I have seen was a Hanko trident with mother of pearl inlays . If I remember correctly, the winner paid just under $16k.

I bet someone will build a light with diamonds or black opals and has a pricetag of 50k$

This is actually very interesting thread. I think these $5k lights can find customers. I’d call it a Veblen good. It’s just about having a thing that others cannot have.
There is a name for it in Economy: Veblen effect. .
