I watched the Blue Beetle 2023 last night.
I am a bit ambivalent on this one. The CGI was pretty good. It had some good action scenes. The Atmos audio track was intense at times. But their attempts at comedy fell quite flat for me.
Another thing was the fact that they switched back and forth from English to Spanish for the dialog. I guess I could have turned on subtitles, but I didn’t so I missed about 30% of the dialog. I think they should pick a language and stick with it.
The plot was just so-so. It seemed to be very formulaic of this kind of movie and a bit trite for my taste. No big surprises in this one. Nothing to make you think either.
I would give it a 2.5 out of 5. For the positives mentioned and because I watched the entire movie. Overall, I don’t recommend anyone go out and spend money on it. If it comes on a service you already pay for, give it a try.
