I would not buy any of them, ultrafire batteries are junk and the lights will be crappy quality
You really want to spend some money if you want a good lithium battery flashlight,
here is my suggestion, and fasttech is a reputable store
thanks. I understand that the batteries are throw-away.
Those torches are only a couple of bucks cheaper without the batteries so I will take them for ‘emergencies’ and get better batteries anyway.
Like I say, I am looking for a large torch, I have a sipik T6 for when I’m on the move.
I agree with Bort on the battery and charger - they’re very good.
However regarding your zoomie torch, I can’t really recommend any except a sipik sk68 because they’re all pretty bad in terms of output and throw.
Convoy M1 is a fine flashlight. I own a couple. The M1 is just a few dollars more. A day ago Battery Junction had Jetbeam PA20 on sale for just under $23.00 each. Hunt around for 2xAA flashlights on sale to be kept in cars/trucks over the summer. I would not store a 18650 flashlight with battery in my car over the summer. There is a group buy on BLF going on for a Sunwayman D40a. $50.00 plus free shipping. Think about it. Good luck.
something beefy and substantial. like a foot-long brisket sub, with a lot of light and a lot of run time.
something that gives torch-envy to the cree-illiterate who carry giant maglites that throw weak yellow light out
the ones you linked will fall far short of that, an xm-l cannot put out 2000 lumens and based on others reports your likely to see 500-750 (we like to say chinese lumens are multiplied by three)
Beefy and substantial
Lot of light
Lot of runtime
<$20
The <$20 is severely limiting. I don’t know of any light I would consider to match all 4.
Convoy C8 and M1 get a lot of praise, but I wouldn’t consider them to be beefy/substantial and not a lot of runtime (decent at around an hour, depending on driver/battery choice).
How about Ultrafire F13? I got mine around $14 and it happen to be an XM-L2 version. “Beefy” body tube as it supports 26650, 18650 and even AAAs. Good amount throw distance if driven properly.
I think the Convoy C8 will do the best of these three, its like holding a car headlight in your hand, the M1 link i provided has a driver that gives a few less lumens because it has a smaller head to dissipate heat, the flashlight can get hot enough to be too hot to hold (it won’t hurt the light unless it gets over 150ºC, most people find 60ºC getting uncomfortable), but the C8 has a bigger head
