I fully agree with this. FWIW
The voltage display in my fancy pants XTAR charger has been inaccurate from day one, and its internal logic has never actually permitted a cell to charge at the promised 2A rate, with fresh 30Qs and P42s and the like.
It does accurately cut off at 4.2v, so in that one respect it’s good, but it has been an otherwise disappointing purchase. The grading function also works, but it is a glacial process requiring the better part of a day.
I wanted very much to like it, and the company, and have even taken a deeper look at the current model equivalent, the VX2 Pro, but then I see things like its PD implementation that specifies the 12v PDO (on paper, at least) that is now often unsupported by a lot of mains adapters, and lose faith again.
A DMM, even a cheaper one, is a necessary part of the tool kit.

Thank you for deep considerations under the topic. The most likely was unreliable reading from my XTAR charger. I’m purchasing a multimeter and will conduct test on my CL01 - im going to drain the battery untill shut off, and check the voltage in reliable way with suited tool. I will let you know in the thread about the readings.

I decided to do the same test when I read your post this morning.
My CL01 LVP test started w the battery at 3.82V. The light indicated 3 battery lights.
I ran the CL01 until it turned itself off.
6 hours after starting the test, I noticed the light was off. Im not sure how long it had been off before I noticed.
The battery was at 2.99V on my DMM. The CL01 indicated 1 battery light when I turned it back on. It came on at a low output.
I turned the output up to maximum and it ran for 2 minutes, and then it shut itself off.
The battery measured 2.79V and 1 battery light blinked when I tried to turn the light on again. It came on at a very dim output.

Conclusion:
Using the stock unprotected 21700 Wurkkos battery,
Built in LVP in the driver, shuts the light off as soon as the battery goes below 2.8V.
I drained my battery until the light turned off and measured it to 2.79v so it seems to be working.
One minor thought I’d point out, having been let down by the Wurkkos H1A powerbank fiasco, is that different batches may behave differently.
Do these lights have a version check shortcut?
UPDATE: XTAR VC2 was giving wrong readings about voltage.
CL01 did shut off at 2.9 V, the led gauge was blinking with 1 dot.
Tested with multimeter:
The battery is properly charging.
