Someone should re-evaluate the price. The SD05 is less than half the cost, and although has an XHP50.2 emitter (which I got at 5000ºK), is basically the same light.
Thank you for the discount! Will this light work with Samsung 30Q’s or 40T’s? Not sure how many amps this driver can handle or if this is even a concern, but wanted to check before trying different batteries.
Just received this light and it’s a pretty good piece of kit for the money.
Good choice of emitters, good output and capacity/runtime, simple UI and good size in the hand.
If I was nitpicking, I would have preferred a bit of knurling as it can be a bit slippery sometimes and maybe low (and possibly medium) could be a bit lower (but that’s based on my general usage and not when diving).
I also got this light a few days ago. I also looked at some of the tried and true offerings from princetontec, scubapro, etc, etc. Scubapro’s 18650 light, for example, has a low of 300 lumens.
I dove for years with a 4C cell Princetontec light. Those put out about 50 lumens for 8 hours. I WANTED the 8 D Cell Pelican that put out about 300 lumens for 8 hours, but they were over $100. If you wanted to achieve real lumens and run time, then you went with the canister lights. So I wanted lots of lumens. There has been no time ever that I wanted less. I even used a flashlight in the day to see into holes. Now, I can see some researchers might have use for lower modes. But the average diver will nearly always prefer 350 lumens to 50 lumens… would nearly always prefer the Pelican 8D 300lumens to the Princetontec 4C 50lumens. I could see situations where brighter would not be better… silt out in a cave or even some lake diving where the water is like soup.
This light correctly puts the minimum level at 350 lumens. It is standard in a bunch of other SCUBA lights, and it is consistent with what I want when I dive.
Amazon US code D7A3OKNN for 20% is no workie right now, though a 5% click coupon is showing. Would like to try this light in my next tank dive next week (Sofirn SD-05 is $40 atm).
