It is amazing how slow going is erosion on rock faces, taking sometimes thousands of years. Imagine being the statistic that has the bad luck of standing atop the edge of one of those Half Dome slabs when it finally decides it’s time to let go.
In all likelihood, you’ve got a much greater chance of seeing a Northern California Pacific coast landslide, where much of the bluffs that line it are nothing but hard packed dirt—no solid bedrock to be found.
