Zoom host for 20mm MCPCB?

What zoom lights/hosts are there that take a 20mm MCPCB? When looking at specs for lights the MCPCB diameter is rarely specified. 1 x 18650 cell hosts preferred.

Glad you asked; I’d like to know too.
Several cheap 3xAAA lights I’ve got take 20mm stars.
Those I have all are made with a pill with a star pressed in, and a resistor on the other side of the pill where a driver should be.

I could guess that several of the DX 3xAAA zoom lights are like that.

(two slightly different ones under $5)

I have one zoom that came an extension to allow using 1x18650, a no-name.
Here’s one that looks almost the same with an extension, just guessing it might also take a 20mm star

You could add your name to the question here:
https://www.fasttech.com/forums/1576102/t/1193862/16mm-or-20mm-star-emitter
They list a wide variety of hosts; perhaps someone there can get out a ruler and check the star size and add that info for each host.
(Some of the hosts show photographs of the pill with measurements of the outside diameter, and some of those are bigger than 20mm, so there’s hope)

You could try a sp98 I looked at it as a host before settling on something else. But sorry a zoomy nichia triple :davie: ergh!

Uniquefire uf t20 is popular.

And build thread Uniquefire UF-T20 mod: 3.05A xpg2-3C dedomed on Sinkpad

It might work for what I want to do with it… or it might not

Here is my zoomie

Complete rebuild

XM-L2 on 20mm copper sinkpad
Used to have a 20mm TexasPyro 8*7135 OSHPark board till I fried it somehow, now it has a Nanjg 8*7135 flashed with STAR V1.1(reversed) on a 20mm adapter plate
Removed the lousy reflector ring that made all the rings and artifacts in the beam, epoxied to the hollow pill and put extra epoxy to fill in the “hollow pill”

I have 5 levels turbo w/ 2 minute timout, high, med, low, moonlight and no stupid flashies

 ……. Good luck hope it does work  .

Dude like I said I your other thread, a multi emitter setup behind an aspheric WILL NOT PROVIDE YOU EVEN LIGHT at any zoom level (and also won't focus when zoomed in).

If your set on waisting money go for it, I encourage you to prove me wrong and call me on that statement but I know from experience it just will not work. Like I said the emitter has to be centered behind the lens to produce an even beam pattern (zoomed in or out), having 3 offset emitters will mean none of them will be projected evenly. There will be 3 hotspots at all zoom levels giving you the flower pedal effect.

however to answer your question the UniqueFire UF-T20 is the host for you.

I trust you and won’t be out to prove you wrong, but I’m interested in the result. I’ve got a few old LEDs, zoom lenses and a host lying around and can make a simple test by chopping the MCPCBs up a bit and gluing them together so three will fit rather close. It won’t be a working light but I can do it so I can get a general idea of what the beam might look like. Thanks for your advice.
