I ordered 2 of those securitying zoomies from ebay, thanks for the tip. I think they may make good hosts, what is promising is that I see a standard tail with PCB and screw-in retaining ring.
I have one of those Securitying AA zoomies. My impressions:
1. Anodizing is excellent. Itās a perfect matte black. the words āSecurityingā are very crisp and clear. Looks much higher quality than the finish on a typical Sipik 68.
2. Overall shape of the light feels good. Itās a bit long for a AA light. Still usable, but defnitely not in the miniature category either.
3. It has a twist zoom rather than a push-pull. This makes the zoom harder to cycle with one-hand, but allows more waterproofing since the stiffer zoom can stay in place even against air pressure changes.
4. Been awhile since I looked inside, but my recollection was that the aluminum pill is very small. I think even a 15mm driver needed some filing at the edges to fit. I donāt recall if I had to also file the star down.
Hey, I received confirmation from the seller (my previous message). It only has On/Off and only takes AA battery, not 14500
I guess Iāll order one, just to try them! Maybe the host is nice, or maybe Iāll stick with the stock light
Couldnāt agree more with you, raccoon city!
I guess we must be aware that lots of the flashlight companies we mention on this forum are Chinese: Nitecore, Olight, Fenix, Convoy, Jetbeam, Lumintop, Klarus, Thrunite, Sunwayman, Acebeam, Manker, Thorfire, Sofirn, EagleyEyeā¦ (i guess the list of well known is here, but others could be added for sure).
We then have lots of not (so) good flashlights, most of them commonly designed as ācheappoā lights, because they are unexpensive and most of the times theyāre not made with good/reliable quality materials. Or even because they donāt meet what could be considered here as āgood specificationsā for people that likes lights and knows āsome thingsā about flashlights.
This said, hanoilighting208, even understanding your statement, I guess we must be relative and specify what we mean
And I guess that even the ācheappoā lights deserve an opportunity, they sometimes are a really good surprise :money_mouth_face:
Eheh, but I also mentioned āpreviousā and shouldnāt as the post was a bit up-up in the thread!
Well, I also found the same light with 3 modes, specifying High-Low-Strobe. So it is probable that the one you mention really has themā¦ Gotta wait
I guess this may be a āgeneralā host and them the fabricants give them different drivers. This āSecurityIngā seems to have cool flashlights, āgoodā hosts and nice drivers!
Thankfully, I guess!! We sometimes need a āsimpleā flashlight, ready to go
Indeed. Not only are there some very good quality Chinese flashlight brands, but there are some rather poor American flashlight brands (cough, cough, mag, cough).
Iām agnostic to where a product is made. As long as it has good value, thatās what I want. My recent purchases have mostly been some Convoy lights, because they seem to be of decent quality for a low price. There is better quality out there, and I sometimes pay $100 for a light, but it has to have features I canāt get at a lower price.
And then there are $500 brands that I just canāt justify purchasing, because the value isnāt there (IMO). Theyāre excellent quality, no doubt, but a super-high price drops the value to a point where it isnāt for me.
