i would definitely buy custom machined extended tubes for these lights, and the size/thread compatible MT09R 70.2 TA Monster Triple, which could REALLY benefit from some dramatic capacity improvement options and much better weight distribution from a longer tube, even if still using 4 cells...
like the Otherwise excellent BLF Q8, I find the centered mass of the ubiquitous quad 18650 cell arrangement a bit much for real world use in a relatively short body length. In the Q8, which is a KISS 4P configuration, sometimes I run only 2cells at a time to avoid wrist fatigue to reduce weight. Sometimes I wish for the modularity genius of the BLF GT to be able to run either 4 or 8 cells with its extension tube, the added weight giving a huge usability runtime improvement.
I suppose I would prefer an extension tube for more comfortable weight distribution, with 4 or 8 cell options. I know with your machining background thereās a way to design this, and I would gladly make it worth your while, even just some simple prototype work.
please PM me for details, as I am very interested in the possibilities,
Really sorry to hear about your situation, FlashTom and CoolJB.
I ordered a white NW XHP35 MT07S on 5/24, and received it on 6/7, paying a few bucks for the Expedited shipping option, and it had the exotic braided paracord both pictured on the BG site and as above. I am very happy with the light, but I cringe at the negative experiences others are having with problems ordering and the whole SC26 fiasco... I can only hope these get resolved somehow, but now Iām leery of HL/BG for the future.
I still Iāll stand by the otherwise very good quality of build quality and performance of the 2 HL I do have, yet these negatives affecting others is not a good omen.
I just checked the stock situation on all versions of the MT07S. They are all OOS and on āarrival noticeā right now without any predictable date for stock replenishment.
Damn I waited to long to jump on this deal. I didnāt think haikelight would go belly up they seemed to do well. Really wanted a xho35 one. I have a 70.2 one. Might buy a second 70.2 if I can find one. Iād like to MOD one with the ta driver and keep one stock
Itās the same thing which happened with the BLF Q8 during the Christmas shopping season: there were over 6000 preorders, and every time, the preorder date got pushed.
Itās probably the same thing which is happening with the MT07S: it racks up a lot of preorders, and boom! preorder date gets pushed.
Today I received my MT07S XHP70.2 NW. So far, everything looks fine except for two imperfections in the reflector, see picture below. I hope these will not have any negative influence on the beam. Is this normal in terms of manufacturing tolerances or a reason one could seriously complain about?
Just ordered a black nw xhp 35 thanks for this deal. I was pretty bummed out about it, it was looking haikelite was in trouble. Glad to see there making new product. I checked yesterday and it said in stock 24 hours processing time. Wife got it for me for my birthday today.
Using mad Maxs aff link of course. This will put those new vtc5s to good use.
Every once in awhile a light will come with a minor imperfection in the reflector or finish. Just part of mass production. I see it with the convoy host every 1 in 10 host has a blemish like that on the reflector Iāve never seen it make a difference in the beam
I tried out my MT07S and found out that mine has some quality issues:
The flashlight makes a terrible rattling noise when I shake it back and forth, see youtube video: https://youtu.be/639NbOIsWG0
The reflector has two minor imperfections, not really a problem but ugly somehow
The dome of my XHP70.2 has a scratch on it
The side switch blinks blue even with almost fully charged (4.09V) protected Imalent 18650 cells. According to the manual it should not start to blink before the capacity is down to 50 percent.
This is a common problem Iāve discovered. You can āresetā this fault by physically removing the battery tube from the head (not just loosening 90 degrees) for a second or so, and tightening again. The light will turn solid blue again. However, after fondling with output the battery indicator will start blinking again as if battery voltage is below something like 3.7V (~50% capacity).
You can see this problem in this video here as well:
