Anyone know Betty in Shanghai?

I know the thread title sounds like a pickup line or something ……But I got a phone battery from her, and I didn’t order any phone battery, so some vendor sent me the wrong item. Should be flashlight related. Of course, they don’t use the real ebay or vendor name on the return addresss. ARGGGGHGGHHG. Deal Extreme or one of the other vendors also sometimes doesn’t list the real company on their envelopes. So I have tried and tried to track this down through my Paypal receipts and what-not, but no way. Item number doesn’t match anything I ordered.

Anyone recognize this address? (This is exactly as it appears on the envelope: Except it may be Betty Ai or Betty Al. Can’t tell if the last letter is an “L” or an “i.”)

Betty Ai
Betty Tao, No. 459 Songnan Rd
RD Baoshan District
Shanghai Shanghai
China 200441

Grrrrrrrr.

Thanks for any help you can give.

No shite! I got the same package over a week ago from the same address with a cell phone battery. I used the tracking number and traced it back to a mini-01 purchase I made on eBay. Did you happen to purchase anything from eBay seller "rray009"?

I wrote them an angry letter along with pics and they apologized and resent the order, supposedly with the correct item, the next day and gave me a new tracking number. I will let you know what happens.

Johnny Mac you are a LIFESAVER!!! Yes I ordered the mini-01 and no I have not received it yet. It was definitely one of the suspected vendors for this phone battery. It has to be the same seller. I haven’t gone through paypal yet looking for the mini-01, which I will do now. I am so glad I asked on BLF! Thank you! Phone battery and Betty on the return address, it has to be one in the same. My tracking numbers did nothing. Already tried.

Yea I used to know Betty too!

>>>>>Did you happen to purchase anything from eBay seller “rray009”?

Yup that’s the seller. Just checked. I’m writing her now. Thanks again!!!

Hahahahaah! Looks like my thread title has everyone looking at the thread, which was the plan!

I just checked the tracking number they gave me a week ago and china post tracking says it's not valid. I just wrote the seller and informed them they did the same to you and that I smell a scam. I threatened to open a PP dispute if I don't get an answer that doesn't sound fishy.

Arghh!!!

Yeh, i know betty.

I’m thinking that maybe Betty is Peggy’s…errr…”sister”.

>>>>>>I just checked the tracking number they gave me a week ago and china post tracking says it’s not valid.

Those numbers almost never work for me. The most they say is “shipped to america,” like that helps.

I wrote our pal Betty. She/he/ray/whoever has a high feedbak rating. I have found that you don’t get that high FB rating by stiffing customers. Hopefully she will come through. I NEVER order from any ebay seller who is lower than 99%, especially the high volume Chinese sellers.

I think a lot of this stuff is drop shipped from all over China. I’m surprised it doesn’t happen more often.

I will post when and if I receive the light and/or an email from Betty.

I bet some others will get the phone battery also. I think I got the link from BLF?

Thanks again.

LOL!! Absolutely inane movie but I LOVE it! Now "Open the mouth..." LOL!

No .

And if she says she knows me , she's lyin' .

What ?? No returns !!!

I also got a cell phone battery instead of the TWO UF-Minis I ordered, and the same "Betty from Shanghai" return address, so that makes three of us. I was able to trace it to 3C-Deal City, at this address:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160852324145

I sent them a message tonight, so I'll see if they respond. Looks like a scam, and Ithought I was the only one!

I have no problem complaining to PayPal, but I want to see if they respond and make good. I think these are old cell phone batteries not even worth the cost of shipping.

+ 1

>>>>> looks like it may be a scam going. I thought I was the only one

I don’t think it’s a scam. IMHO anyway. I think they got the sku number screwed up and shipped the wrong item. Mistakes happen.

There is no way to fake a great 99.4% feedback rating like that seller has on ebay. 99.4% out of 29,000+ sales on ebay. That is a REMARKABLE score. It sure looks like he takes care of his customers. If we all start leaving bad feedback for the seller, he will get kicked off ebay. It doesn’t take many bad feedback ratings to have him suspended.

I wrote the seller and he responded almost immediately, very apologetic, and promised to send me a new light. NO runaround. No bargaining with coupons and partial refunds like the idiots at stand-alone web sites. I also thanked him for his quick reply, and he sent me ANOTHER email apologizing again, saying that he had mailed the mini ASAP and to please contact him when I got it. English was okay also.

If you’re concerned about a resend you could just ask him for the money back. If he gives you a song and dance, then THAT is a ripoff. I just haven’t seen any evidence for a ripoff. Just a mistake.

These ebay sellers stake their whole livelihood on that feedback. They just can’t afford to have it go south. They’ll do just about anything to make amends so you won’t leave bad feedback. That’s why — I think — ebay sellers with high feedback (99%+) are overall better in service than many of the flashlight web sites. Except for a Paypal chargeback, which is no big deal to them (I know because I run two Paypal businesses), I have no recourse when a web site deal goes south. But the ebay feedback is a MIGHTY weapon against fraud.

Again, this is all IMHO. I could be dead wrong. I was one time …. Just kidding. But I’ll give him a chance to fix the mistake for yet ANOTHER month (URGGGHHGHH) to see if I get the mini this time. If I don’t get it, then I DEFINITELY will go after this guy with every weapon I have — leave bad feedback and file an ebay complaint, among them. But until that time, I will believe that it was a mistake.

I'm hoping it is just a screwup at the distributor, Ubehebe. My onlyconcern is that we will both get the same battery. The seller has the distributor drop ship for them and if the screwup is at the distributor the seller has no way to make sure the correct light will be sent instead of that damned battery. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the both of us.

Cross one more finger for me, too, JohnnyMac! I like what you're saying, Ube-Hebe. It is more important to be civil and level headed in these things. I have been absolutely polite, gracious, and non-accusatory with this vendor. I have been communicating with a woman named Lilly on the 3c-DealCity ebay vendor site. She has asked me to give her the "SKU in AAA-123-456" format. There is no SKU numbers on any items on that site, with that format, just item numbers. So I resent that number, although it was part of the original email I posted to her.

So that makes me nervous, plus I'm in this for $28, not just $14, and I have had a bad experience with one dealer (many years ago) who (1) didn't send me the item and apparently didn't intend to; (2) didn't respond to 3 separate emails I sent over 2 weeks; and (3) started posting nasty comments on eBay about how I was a fraudulant and terrible buyer and warning all other vendors to refuse to sell anything to me. I got about 20% of my money back through PayPal, so that left a bad taste in my mouth.

But I will live without the flashlights or the money, so it's not worth making a fuss over, I agree.

BTW, what actual battery did you two get? Mine is a BL-4L/E71 (BP-4L) 3.7/1300mAh cell phone battery. When I first got it, I thought - oh man, some poor dude waiting to charge up his cell phone is looking at these two silver flashlights going "Huh?".

>>>>>>Mine is a BL-4L/E71 (BP-4L) 3.7/1300mAh cell phone battery

Nokia AAA-1007-1011. That’s on the actual blister-pack package. Says BP-4L on the actual battery inside the blister pack. No rated capacity. Just says 3.7v on the batt. It says it’s a real Nokia battery, but then TFFs are “real TFFs.

Worth about $3-$5 on flea bay.
