JPEGs, GIFs, or Rollovers?

So if you’re reading a review which do you prefer? Do GIFs slowdown your browser? Does your phone read them? Anyway, which do you prefer? Why? Do you even care?

i believe tons of gif do slow the computer down. Say 20 or so that are 1MB+ all on a website. Even if it’s in background they still take a decent processing power, even for my 6 core AMD. As for mobile or phone. Last time I check they only show thumbnails or a still picture for a good 5-10 mintues. And if they run they are like choppy.

Go away and/or troll the new Convoy experience thread. "Everyone" has subscribed it, so posting, deleting, and re-posting will make them more than happy..

This is how:

Although I post a lot of animated gifs, I prefer mouseovers or plain JPEG for beam shots. They’re easier to make comparisons.

And now, to address the OP's initial statement:

I usually don't notice any issues with either format, but like Chloe said, Mouseover/JPG is the best for beamshot comparisons. For most purposes, there's no need for the animated .gif and those tend to be a bit annoying. The only use for an animated .gif is for humorous content...

For example, here is a photo of Kreisl/Dinoboy deleting his posts!

Hey.. Im going to link to this thread in my How to do a review thread..... :)

JPEGs - good for closeup shots, presenting details like threads,
Rollovers - good for 2-photo comparison like two flashlights @ max output mode (or any other mode), or comparison of throw etc,
Gifs - good for overall product presentation, when you want to show the product from all sides but you don’t want to post 5+ pictures to do that. They can also be made from macro photos to show details. I love them, they are fun & easy to do, offer endless possibilities

Every review should have all three of them…

I like all of them, that's why I'm using them. I don't browse the web on my phone.

I try to keep the animated gif lower in the review so it has time to fully load before the reader gets to it.

I browse exclusively on my phone, throw whatever sequences you want out, it seems to just laugh at them tbh.

no I have no issues with any of the above

Glad you asked.

Mouseovers suck on my portable device…no mouse and tapping doesn’t work. Maybe I don’t don’t do it right…lol

Would be nice to have separate pics as well as mouseovers.

exactly.

;)

:stuck_out_tongue:

I prefer mouse-overs, they are the best.

Also mouse-overs for sure are the best!!!

animated GIFs are the best!!!
