Small.SureFire group buy up to $1200 max

I can’t buy SF products , they won’t sell direct to md outside the USA.

Long story ,cut short: After a few e-mails they gave me a 40% discount code for up to $1200 USD

I want the A2 Aviator to try modding, so that is about $300

So still $900 available on that code.

Anyone in USA want some of this discount?
Only catch is they will have to place the order, receive my A2 as well then post it on to me.

Any one?

Have a look in the for sale section of this forum, there is an A2 Aviator for sale for $160.

So, you (er, someone) buy $1200 worth of merchandise and get 40% off of that order, making it cost only $720? Or, is it that you spend $1200 with a 40% discount to get $2000 worth of product? Which way is it?

Here is the direct quote from them. I was getting an uncle of mine to do it, but he is in Africa till the middle of next year.

So it looks like $1200 of total retail price knocked down to $720

Thanks for the heads up about the A2 in the sale section.
Edit, just checked, it is the I can version not the new LED main beam one. :frowning:

from what it sounds like, it will tak 40% off the order up to $1200 not that you need $1200 total.

Yeah, that bit about MSRP means you will get a flashlight worth $100, with an MSRP of $160, for the extra-low price of only $96! That’s a conservative estimate. In fact, it will probably be worse than that. But, I may be wrong. You should research what those flashlights actually sell for and what their MSRP are, and do the math to see if there are any real savings, and how much.

Yes, you spend up to $1200 at the SureFire site price and get the 40% off that. I only need the $305 for the price of the A2, so that leaves near on $1000 of product for someone else for $600

ok, now i understand, thanks.

Get yourself a SF2211 Luminox watch for 477

Or even if no one is interested in buying bits for themselves , anyone happy to order my A2 for me? Then post it on when it arrives. Ultimately that is what I need,

is no one prepared to help me out and get discount in to the bargain?

Send me a PM if you don’t want to go public

I’m sorry I can’t help you out. There’s really nothing on the SF website that I need or want. And paying for shipping twice is going to eat into your discount, which is already not very good, because it’s based on the inflated MSRP.

I really think you can do better than this deal from SF. First of all, you can get the older incan/LED version of this light for a lot less than the dual LED version on the SF website, even with the 40% discount. Then, there’s the fact that this new, $305 flashlight is still only 120lm max. That is just unthinkable to me. I know lumens aren’t everything. I know this light has features I’ll never use, but someone else might. But I’ve seen what guys on this forum can do. You could probably pay one of these guys less than that $183 (SF price minus discount) and still get a much better light, custom made and shipped.

Edit: Look at this thread. tterev3 just posted that he made a light with white and red LED’s for someone recently. He has made some amazing stuff with multiple emitter arrangements.

Yes, I am sure paying twice for shipping will eat in to the discount…but it is still better than buying it without the discount and still having to pay the shipping twice.
Because SF are a tactical company they won’t ship outside the USA or accept an order from outside the USA. So even without the discount I’d still have to get someone in the USA to buy it and ship to me.

There are UK dealers, and the price is way way more. Best I have seen so far is £252 from this seller or this So that £252 is near enough $395 USD

If someone wold buy me the one from SureFire, with the 40% discount, that would be $183 USD, so even adding two lots of postage. How much would internal postage be $20 USD? Maybe $40 for export to me here in Jersey, so add another $60 USD, hell add on another $100 for the two lots of postage. so *$283 USD…round it up to$300*….that is £192 British pound Sterling, so still a £60 saving.

Nothing else on Amazon UK, and amazon.com sellers won’t sell to UK because of the sales restrictions.
Just see how UK prices are more than US by a good margin

R1 Lawman from UK seller is £479 UK pounds, which equates to USDollar price of $752 …the SF MSRP is $455 USD.

So you see, even with triple shipping, and without the discount, I am cheaper buying from the USA, even without the discount.

I am not going in to all the reasons why I want this one, I don’t particularly know, but I am just trying many now. I am determined to find one that I am happy with. This has been going on for 10 years or more, and still not found one. so trying loads and seeing. I have multiple threads recently on here and at CPF. I just want to try one out.
I am also building my own , converting stuff, turning a host on the lathe , have parts on order…drivers and LED’s etc .

If I could find some one to make me a Custom dual output zoom with the spec I wanted then that is an option again, but unlikely ufo happen so that is why I am building my own too.

I had browsed the the oshpark threads, but no, not going down that route of designing and etching my own PCB, I used to make PCB’s years ago…not getting involved in that again.

There does not seem to be a single light that fits all my requirements exactly, it is just that this one seems the closest.

I just can’t believe that of all the people on here I am the only one that wants a SureFire lamp…maybe I am ? are they really that bloody useless? is that the problem ? are they just terrible lights?

No, they are not terrible lights, just terrible values. You understand you’re talking on the BUDGET light forum?

Additionally, the Surefire A2 Aviator does not meet your requirements, being nowhere near a “pencil beam, with little to no spill”

People here have tried to steer you toward far better lights for far less money but you seem fixated. “I fly, it’s called ”Aviator”, it has my name on it.”

Surefire lights stopped being state of the art a LONG time ago. Now they’re limited to the $600 toilet seat crowd and a few snobs at CPF. Owning a newer Surefire is like buying a toilet plunger for $500 and saying, “I’d trust my life with it!”

If you really have that much too much money, maybe you could find a family nearby that won’t have a great Christmas without help and be that help.

It’s not that they’re useless, it’s just that they’re too overpriced for what they are. Seriously, did you check out what tterev3 said in that thread I linked above? He just got through modding a light with dual emitters, one white and one red. I’m sure he could come up with something many times better than that SF and do it for cheaper than what you’ll end up paying even with the discount. Also, if you look at the beam shots for the A2 Aviator, it isn’t a tight beam. So, if this is supposed to satisfy the requirements you’re looking for in your other thread, you’re certain to be highly disappointed.

If you really still want one, try eBay. Looking from here, I see prices in the £140 - £175 range.

True, but noting seem to have a nice tight beam and a dual output. or zoom. It has a dual output, so worth a try

No not at all. I actually found it by initially using the Features selector, then opening all the likely ones in new tabs, then scanning spec, and closing tabs till I had a short list If you look at one of their videos, it does not even seem to mention aviation when talking about the A2.

There is nothing that does match all my specs, and never will be, so i am just narrowing it down to the closest ones.

Plenty of other good suggestions, and a few have already been ordered. Some have been too big too, If they are not zoom, and not 1 inch bezel, then they too have been discarded. The A2 was bigger than 1 inch, but it had the dual output, so will not need the diffuser.
I wanted a 1 inch bezel ( if not zoom) , to fit the flip down diffuser I have on order. That was another 40% discount code. They gave me two of them, and someone else is buying that for me from the electric bikes forum, from NY.

But then I thought, hey, what am I doing, I have had help on the BLF forum, Ill offer what I can back. I thought it would have been appreciated. Obviously not.

If I did have too much money i’d just buy it from one of those expensive UK suppliers. What you suggest about offering help to someone else was what I thought I was doing offering to share this discount. I could have just got my mate over at the E-Bike forum to do this order for me, but I thought I’d offer it over here, where I too have received help.

Yes but it seemed to descend in to talk of building and creating your own driver boards…soldering SMD’s is not a strong point of miens i glazed over. I am not going to start buying hot air reflow style soldering stations etc. Those threads are still open in other tabs. not got arid to finishing them all yet. s

OK, I’ll PM him and see what he can do for me.

that wont be anything new. but has to be worth a try. Nothing else has worked ok so far

i had been avoiding e-bay as, after the bastards tried to claim I did not post something, when I had postage receipts, and then they started demanding money from me. The company is so OTT with buyer protection it is happy to screw over sellers. So I generally forget to look there now. I always wonder about e-bay too, so many fakes and crap on there. You only have to look at the Ultrafire 18650 cells sold there, claiming 2400mAh, yet barely giving 900. That was my last purchase form e-bay when I had no other choice. I could not find any one except that one e-bay seller to post to me in jersey. Most e-bay sellers don’t send to jersey, as E-bay lists us as a separate company.

But I ’ll take a look

thanks

You seem like a generally difficult person to please.

I don’t think anyone is really “unappreciative” Neil, its more like if I were offering you a $300 sculpted dinner knife that is advertised to be superior while being easy to lose its edge, made of average steel but has a “premium” name, to guys who just like to find good quality bargain cutlery that stays sharp and more functional much longer for much less. Just not going to impress people who know the value, and they wouldn’t take me up on the offer to buy more of those over priced knives they just don’t see a reason to pay premium for

On my part, thanks for the offer, I just wouldn’t buy anything Surefire or Superduperspecialfire or whatever special name you want to call it, it had better be remarkably superior to justify a sky high price! In fact their lights in general are remarkably under performing for the price, so I don’t want to buy, my $3.90 light I bought out performs that light from my perspective, and I think the situation is similar for most BLF people. That’s all, nothing personal, and in fact I think they are just trying to help you out so you don’t waste money on something that isn’t going to be anything special. Good luck if you still want to buy it!

Neil, it is indeed a very nice gesture of your part sharing the discount code, but it is not easy for us to read through “noting seem to have a nice tight beam and a dual output.” when clearly there are millions of better lights for a fraction of $300!!!

Plus you want to buy the A2 and then mod it which for me makes no sense, why would you spend that much money for a light that “meets your requirements” and then mod it to… meet your requirements better?

I can understand if you don’t want to go budget, but there are many excellent flashlights in the $100-150 range that can blow the A2 out of the water. After all you should know we are just trying to help, I know you come from CPF and perhaps there are brands in here that you’ve never heard of, but at least try with a couple flashlights that many here have recommended… I also come from CPF and trust me, budget lights are not that bad, not at all!!
