I didn’t ask for a Thorfire VG-15, but I got sent one anyways. There have already been a few good reviews with lots of pictures, so I will keep mine much shorter than my usual review format.
Pros:
Attractive appearance
Quality Ano
Quality Clip
SS Bezel
Smooth Threads
Mode order Moon-Low-Med-High, hidden strobe (double-click while in moon to access strobe)
Cons:
On-time memory with long-ish set time
If you want strobe, it can be hard to activate
My sample had a decent divot missing from the aluminum on the edge of the tailcap (covered with ano, so not too noticeable)
Tint isn’t terrible, but is definitely cool white (I prefer Neutral)
Low, Med, and High modes are all a little too close together
Verdict:
A good host that is slightly let down by it’s internals, but still a good flashlight overall.
Feel free to ask questions below if there is something you would like to know.

Hmm let’s go with #2… I love my K40M just cause of its really nice tint. The overall out is phenomenal and it’s get really really low which I really dig
I got my hands on a mint, real BLF X6 and I love it! The hot spot is so tight and so round and no rings, mine is the 3C tint bin which I really love and it fits the hand so well. I do not EDC it, but I use it often when I am out with the kids or dogs.
What light would make me happy as a clam...?
Maglite D Cell Shorty. + Finned head
This is an Adventure Sports light, complete with ramp mode driver. And I love purple!
I really wish manufacturers would include a driver with ramping or with decent springs or FET drivers! I also really like the Convoy tail cap charge system.
1. The light I absolutely am in love with is the BLF-X6, just like mattlward. When I first saw it in photos, I thought it looked ridiculous. Curiosity struck me, and I got one off of banggood when they were still in stock. MAN is this light perfect in looks. I can’t tell much of a difference in the spacings after low, but still, I absolutely adore this light.
2. The light I’m drooling over is the second edition of the BLF-X6 (of course). I’m super hyped for that group buy. It will be my first light with over 1000 lumens in output, and I’m super psyched about it!
3. I really wish Thorfire had neutral tint options to their lights.
I’m curious on how well does the pocket clip worked especially on very soft workout gym pants. the tail seemed to stick out a lot
I guess I’ll join the giveaway to see how
Your favorite light that you own and why it is your favorite (and a picture of it if possible)
-Grey Convoy C8 that I’ve swapped with blue tailcap. Mann it’s smexy
The light you are drooling over the most and why you want to buy it so bad (and a picture of it if possible)
-Possibly the Courui D01
A feature or spec that you wish manufacturers like Thorfire would include or not include on their future products
-Luxury class lights that include trits
The clip is nice, it appears to be the same as is used on the Convoy S8. It holds strong, the only way i can see it coming off is if you were running and the light was bouncing around.
1. Thrunite Ti3 I freaking love that light. My first nice flashlight!
3. Right angle heads! I’m looking for a headlamp right now and man it would be nice to have more right angle options.
Eagle Eye A6 with a EE X6 tube and clip, a MTN fet + 7135 driver and triple XPL’s, and somewhat modified ToyKeeper Cypreus2 firmware.
It’s my favorite because it’s a nice flat beam with almost no hot spot, I used to carry a zoomie for close up work and this as almost as good. On high it puts out a ridiculous amount of light.
My favorite would have to be my humble grey Solarforce L2P.
It's the tailstanding, forward clicky version with lanyard ring. This build has a Qlite 3A driver, XM-L2 5B1 80+ CRI emitter on Noctigon, OP reflector, and multi-coated AR lens from KD. It's pretty basic, but I use this light all the time. The anodizing is really tough, the knurling is on the aggressive end of the spectrum, and it puts out lots of neutral, high-CRI light. I usually do brief bursts of light and almost never need to adjust brightness, so the forward clicky works very well with the Qlite (5 modes and ~0.5s off-time memory).
I really wish more manufacturers would offer the option of a forward clicky in their lights. As it stands, most reverse clicky lights I own don't even have enough clearance in the tailcap to fit a forward clicky switch. If someone offered forward clicky switches that were roughly the same height as their reverse clicky counterparts, I'd have switched most of mine over already.
My favorite light for just getting around in the house in the dark is the Olight S15 Baton. The reason is it is very small. Has a wide range of output choices. When using the moonlight mode run time is very long. Not the best tint though. If I need a whole lot of light my favorite is Armytek’s Viking version 2.5. Long run time, bright, and durable. For evening walks I like my Armytek Partners very much. The single AA, and double AA versions. No single flashlight is all around best for me.
My favorite light, currently: K60, it’s big it’s heavy it’s 5K lumens, at a job now so cant post images…
Feature: “infinite” dimming like crelant lights use but 3-4 modes and setting that is preserved even when battery is removed.
As of right now it has to be my Olight S15 with two Eneloops, (extension tube) and a XM-L 4C tint & Stippled TIR mod. Its a beautiful tint, nice & floody, and best medium-mode run time ever of the 2-AA class.
“#2 - ”The light you are drooling over the most and why you want to buy”
.
M2X-UT Javelot!
Just waiting for Olight to come clean with us and provide this light with a Genuine XP-L HI (Domeless) emitter, rather than them just ‘De-Dome’ an Xp-L). - They used to De-Dome the XM-L2 for these and that was even worse!
The ‘Tint’ is Green with the De-Dome, and White with the Real Thing!
At the moment my favourite light is the Convoy S2. It has been for quite a while. I use many other torches regularly but the S2 is one that is always there. It’s not perfect but it’s a nice compact torch. Hoping my A6 on the way becomes my new Favorite.
If I had to pick a torch that I would really like ot own it would be the Nitecore MH20. There may be better choices in that price range but it appeals in its size and it’s performance, size quality. Price is too high for me at the moment. I tend to buy budget torches.
My wife has many shoes and I have even more lights. They have in common that you can only wear one pair at a time.
1/ Years ago I bought a SureFire Defender in a clearance. Put in a 18650 and a LED drop-in. Have it on me whenever I wear a jack or a coat.
Which in the Netherlands means: practically always. It has the weight, size and bezel a pocket-rocket just can’t offer.
2/ There are lots of “drool”-lights but they would probably end up standing next to the magnificent lights I already have (and hardly ever use).
Once in a while I contemplate upgrading my old SF into a SS fully loaded SF (SolarForce).
3/ UI like an AK47: menu 1 without strobe, menu 2 with strobe.
