Energizer Vision AA and AAA lights..

Has any seen the new Energizer Vision AA and AAA lights? They are triple emitter lights!

Energizerion Vision 6*AA

here is a picture that gives a peek at the optic. Looks like one textured and two smooth sections. (click to enlarge)

Looks ok, a little bit of an odd shape but hey, if it has solid heatsinking it might be fun to attempt a mod.

I have two versions of the little energizer “Tactical” 1xaa, one of them had a nice little aluminum pill, the other was just a ring so the star was the heatsink  It’s in use currently as a light that I don’t mind the kids getting chocolate and juice stickiness all over.

The 6 AAA takes 6 AA’s . Edit fixed already.

Doesn’t say much about the UI.

270 lumens low.

Unusual that the texture is on the window (lens), rather than on the reflector.

Interesting light, looks like it’s using a TIR optic.

Yes, the TIR caught my eye since it is 1 flood and 2 throw. Wonder what diameter the optic is?

I was thinking the same thing, it looks fairly large.

Damn looks like another one for the energizer collection.

I just came across these Energizer Vision flashlights on batteryjunction.com, in 3xAAA, 2xAA, and 6xAA formats. The interesting thing I find is that Energizer is advertising these as “Daylight” colored lights. The batteryjunction descriptions for all 3 flashlights call these “neutral whites” that are “more comfortable to view than light from more common cool white LEDs”.

I’m a sucker for neutral white flashlights nowadays, but I’m a little hesitant on grabbing one to try out. “Daylight” could still mean “cool white”, but just not quite as cool as other cool whites. If anyone gets one of these, can you tell us what the color tint is?

Also, is this the first flashlight from a mainstream brand like Energizer that actually advertises color tint as a feature?

If anyone gets one I’d love to see a review. These don’t seem to be available in the UK yet.

I went to make a post asking if anyone had seen these and found this so I will post these pics here:

Optics are the same among all three lights

6xAA $32.99 at O’Reilly Auto Parts

2xAA $22.99 at O’Reilly

3xAAA $13.99 at O’Reilly

Once I get a few other things paid off I want to get the 6xAA and 3xAAA to try out. The 3xAAA I’m hoping I can run an 18650 in it depending on how the AAAs are arranged.

I saw them in a local drugstore and considered buying one. Might just do so if they still have them next week.

I bought all three too I like the 6 aa light and the double aa light. The triple aaa light has a horrible blue tint and very dim something is not right with it i will have too return it. One thing that agravates me is the tail cap on the 6 aa it’s hard to get off and their is no spring on the tail cap when screwing the tail cap down its scratched the negative side of my eneloops pretty badly other than that not a bad light nice and floody with a good amount of throw surprisingly.

I saw these at my local Lowe’s the other day (first time seeing them) and was tempted to buy one, but resisted the urge. I’m interested in seeing a teardown for this. Wondering if it will be a great mod host or not.

How are the batteries arranged in the 3xAAA light? Are they in series and was are the dimensions of the holder or do they have machined channels like the EA4 does?

The tint of the 2xAA to my eyes looks to be somewhere around 5000K. It looked very close to my Rayus C01 5000K Nichia 219 83 CRI. The color of the LED itself also looks very similar to the shade of yellow on my Rayus C01 and my Eagle Eye X6 5000K. I would definitely call my sample of the 2xAA a neutral white light.

The tint if the 3xAAA doesn’t make any sense to me. It has an ugly blue/purple in the middle, making me think this is a cool white flashlight. However, the outer spill of the beam actually look a slight bit yellowish when compared to the 2xAA. Also, the color of the LED itself is a bit more orangish than the 2xAA. It looks still a shade more orange than my Convoy S2+ 4000-4200K. In fact, it looks close to the shade of orange in my Convoy S2+ 3000-3200K. To me, it looks like the 3xAAA tint is trying to be warm white, except for that weird blue/purple in the middle.

Here’s an Amazon customer picture I found of the 3xAAA beam which closely matches what I’m seeing:

The last time I saw a similar blue/purple color in the beam, it was a keychain light. I had switched out a 3V CR2032 for a LIR2032, which is probably 4.2V fully charged (the same as other lithium ion flashlight batteries). I assumed the higher voltage is what caused the blue/purple color. Is it possible that the 3.6V of the 3xAAA Eneloops is somehow overdriving the LEDs, causing the blue/purple beam in the middle?

Tac Gunner: The inside of the tube is an empty circular tube shaped space. It’s not like the Nitecore EA4 where they created hollow spaces specifically for the batteries. The 3xAAA batteries are in series in a battery carrier. My last multimeter reading on the battery carrier was about 3.55V, which confirms that they are in series. Sorry, I don’t have the tools to measure its dimensions. I can tell you that my protected ICR Keeppower 18650 is too long - I can’t screw in the tailcap. The same is true for my unprotected IMR Keeppower 18650. I don’t have any 18500s to test with.

If you’re just testing for length, throw a single AA cell (14500) in there!

Argh, I should have thought of that! Nope, a 14500 is too short.
