Finally BG is selling the BLF Special Edition boxes

I was looking around at stuff at Banggood and saw that they have finally started selling the wood box the Krono’s set came in, the one in my house that says 121 of 400.
These are great boxes and two people who wrote reviews said they were really happy with them and they do look like the original box the set came in.
I decided to post it here because I’m always posting things I think are something good only to find out everyone already knows so here’s where it’s at.
BLF Limited Edition LED Flashlight Box Case 19.3 x 11 x 5cm $13.95

Edit: I was looking to see about getting the original lights that came with this box set, the 18650 is on sale but still high and the Cu is always high but I have a code for the Cu that worked a few months ago and it is, ef5700 I didn’t try it so don’t know if it’s still good, maybe.
They do still have the BLF alum set together and they’re asking $89.95 for the 18650 and the 14500 which is way to much especially if the ano is as bad as the last set I bought, but I still have the old code for that also and it works and brings the price down some $31 to $58.47 which is still kind of steep, the code is 3aeb2e if your interested.
Thank You
Gary

Interesting find!
Without the lights in them the parcel is light and has a good chance of arriving like new!

Wow, thanks so much for posting this, I was hoping that these boxes will be seperately available some day - ordered!

The Astrolux SS and CU pendants of the original limited Kronos X6 and X5 lights are on sale right now and fit these boxes, just FYI.

K.

Your quit welcome, I to was waiting for these and actually had given up, original if I recall correctly they were to be released in March and yes there is a heck of a sale on right now at BG and you can get the Astrolux brands quit cheap and the A6 Astolux with the shorty for I think $21 and the BLF A6 for the lowest I’ve ever seen at $19, don’t quote me on those prices,
I bought 4 boxes and one thing I wrote a question about on the webpage was the serial numbers they have put on these boxes, in the BG site photos they actually look photo shopped onto the boxes and I am really hoping that is the case because those numbers are first off phony and second look terrible, just huge looking.
I have box 121 of 400 and looking at the size of the real box numbers and then those photos is a bit bothersome, I hope there is no numbers at all, they are very good little boxes and I’ll be able to put some of my more special lights into these, I’d probably have to buy some sort of that foam insert type stuff.

My box arrived today… sadly the learned nothing from the prior run and decided to continue using only a little bubble wrap around the box, so I have 3 smashed and damaged corners and one major bump on my box. Also the ugly huge numbers they decided to print on the front are annoying. Damn. Wouldn´t buy again.

Kusie, I am so darn angry right now and to have been the one responsible for posting this thread makes it all the worse, I am so sorry,
I was hoping as I mentioned in a post above that those numbers I saw on BG’s page were fake and that these boxes really didn’t have those numbers like that, that is not even how an original BLF box looked like at all and I have my boxes about to arrive, just saw the tracking info and then your post right behind it so will probably get them tomorrow or next day, so I am not happy and hoping they are smashed to smithereens so they can just refund my money immediately and that my friend is exactly what you need to do also, do not of course accept a replacement at all, get your money back, they will do it I am near certain and if you need a picture of what a real BLF Special Edition box looks like you just let me know and I will send you a picture of mine post hast,
Damn I wish I had never posted this thread, I am truly sorry.
I have thought maybe I can use a machine wood working router and bring that wood down where those numbers are in a worse case scenario and leaving the center part up higher but not so sure now,

I’m going to re-read that website in the AM and see what wording they used to promote these boxes and it better not say something down the lines as “Original” or it will be a big issue for them, guaranteed.
Again I am so sorry Kusie, I really do feel responsible for having posted this crap.,…!!

Hey man, no worries, this is NOT your fault AT ALL and I don´t blame you for anything, I would have stumbled across these boxes anyway while browsing BG sooner or later, so don´t be so hard on yourself! It´s no biggie for me, I will file a complaint and probably get a few bucks back or all my money, if not that´s no problem too, after all it´s only a few bucks lost in worst case…
“don´t worry, be happy! Life is short”

Whatever you tried to tell us … it didn´t reach me.

K.

Just looked. I don’t see any wording of “original” but I did catch this in the description

BLF Forum Number? What do they think they’re doing? :person_facepalming:

Too late…

Banggood, geez, thanks Kusie for the kind words, your right, but BG still gets under my skin when these things happen, and as David pointed out, I agree just what do they think they are doing?? Sometimes I think BG uses BLF logo as a method to sell crap, matter of fact I bought a light once that they swore up and down had the BLF 17DD and some other BLF related stuff and it didn’t, not at all it was a complete fraud using BLF in name just to sell something and worry about the consequences later I guess, did get a refund though but not without a couple months of arguing and please send MORE pictures, ha ha ha
Well see what those dumb boxes look like when they get here today or tomorrow and if I can router off those numbers,
My BLF Forum “OFFICIAL” Member Numbers as assigned by BG ha ha, All you have to do to join BLF is buy a box from BG and get your official member number ah hahahahahahahahhahh… :smiling_imp: :person_facepalming: :stuck_out_tongue:

Anyone have a crafts store like Michaels nearby? You can get (unfinished) hinged wooden cases in a variety of sizes, then just stain/varnish them to your liking, and add that black foam-stuff to fit your whatevers.

I was thinking of that to make a “gift box” also for storage, to fit a light, small charger, and 2 cells. (Ie, keep all the goodies in one place.)

Well received the 3 boxes today, 2 are slightly damaged and scratched, inside materials are shoddy, out lines cut very poorly, and those numbers are not only stupid looking, they ruin the box completely IMO,
I believe it will be easy enough to get rid of them but why do I have to do that?
I am not happy with this at all and should have believed my eyes when I saw those numbers prior to buying these things, I did ask BG a question about the numbers and if they were just photo shopped onto their picture of the boxes for effect or something, I don’t recall the answer but I think it was they were going to ask about it and I don’t recall an answer, but they are real, real stupid and completely meaningless.
Perhaps there are only 250 of these as the numbers suggest and then maybe they will just leave the box alone and sell them as they would look like without having put those numbers on in the first place, extra work on their part, for no good reason that I can see, Oh boy, glad they weren’t expensive and Michael’s is just up the street, hadn’t thought of that and that is an excellent idea, Thanks for the suggestion Lightbringer…!

I´m sorry your boxes came damaged, too. The “funny” thing is that the package itself was absolutely flawless and showed no signs of any damage at all… as if the boxes where already bumped and scratches when they packed them in China…

Yes the inside material is very stiff and cheap and the two SS/CU kronos lights I own hardly fit inside the cut out holes… as far as the large numbers are concerned, I´m a afraid they are carved into the wood of the box so it probably won´t be easy to get rid of them. Maybe the white color they filled the numbers with can be scratched off somehow to make it less distracting

Oh there´s one thing I really like about those boxes, that´s the magnetic closing mechanism.

Well I spent a long time today with these lovely boxes and they are very deceiving, the box is not actually wood with a nice lacquer finish as it appears.
Actually to put those numbers on the box all they had to do mostly is have a sort of branding device that will burn through the outer very very thin vinyl wood looking sheet.
What I thought was at least some cheap kind of wood I find is a sort of press board but made for fibrous materials very similar to shredded paper then covered over with that vinyl sort of wood finish, looks nice if it has not goofy numbers.
So in the end I realized that there is absolutely no way to simply run my router around the edges at less than .05mm because if you did it would be nothing left but a fuzzy white band around the top of the box and it would look horrible, like into the trash bad.
So I used a black fine tip Sharpie pin and just darkened those numbers and it doesn’t look anywhere near as made as it did.

Can you tell which one of these boxes I got on Feb. 2nd 2016…?

This is how one actually arrived with the scratch in the lid so this was designated as Test Subject One of Three…

Used a razor knife and just gently scrapped it sideways, the wood look vinyl is extremely thin, so don’t scratch it, and it might be preventative to get a can of spray lacquer or something to put a coat of extra protection on it.

Using a fine tip black Sharpie, done, good enough…

So you mean to tell me these boxes were NOT made out of the Rare/Forbidden/Outlawed Bog Turtle Bimba or Spotted Baby Owl breeding ground Burl Walnut?
All those back and forth Hippy loving, Tree hugging protesting posts back when these boxes were being planned were all in vain? Ohhhh the Humanity

Seriously, I think we all knew they were pretty colored faux wood boxes, that were packed by high tech overworked underpaid China packers and shipped via low cost Rhino powered rickshaws to the closest post office.
We got what we got. Dings and all. No Owls were harmed that we know of, or Hippies for that matter.
And before some of you get your panties all in a bunch, I was a Hippy so I can throw that around harmlessly.

Anyway the black sharpie does look much better, nice mod!
Peace out.

Muto, I don’t think I’ve laughed that hard in awhile, please know when I said “Lovely Boxes” I was not really meaning like in lovely, ha ha ha
It was no shocker to see really how cleverly these boxes were made, it feels real, tastes real, broke a window like it’s for real, scared my neighbor like he was nearly killed by a flying wood box, but thankfully it was only a fake wood box, and for the record I am only 61 or so and I to would have identified as a hippie, ah the good ole days, but the obvious long lasting affects are permanent. :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: Ah, Please know that I am mostly a guy who likes to joke around some, OK a lot, and I am really not so violent that I would actually throw things like fake wood boxes through my windows and NO I really did not nearly kill my neighbor with one of these boxes I was only joking, now had I actually done that I would immediately surrendered myself to the nearest mental health people and never ever played with BG boxes again ever I promise, so no worries my friends I am OK, seriously.

What’s more sad is that we, the membership, collectively didn’t learn anything from the various past and current group buys.

EDITED OUT A COMMENT to a very good and decent member who’s name is Jack

Jack-bkk, I don’t personally know you but I most certainly would like to, my feelings are the same, Thank You my good friend, you are honorable and have great integrity and I am very grateful to you,
Thank you Jack …!!
Most Sincerely,
Gary

@op: Don’t worry i think i spotted this box on day one and ordered it right away.

I received it a few weeks ago but i don’t have my Astrolux set with me right now, so i didn’t try to put them in. I just unpacked the box, saw a couple dings in two corners - not too bad though, saw the huge serial number, had a quick look at the inside… and packed it back for when i can use it.

Unless the lights don’t fit or the thing spontaneously self destruct i’m rather happy with it. I plan using it for display with the lid up so i can ignore the ugly numbers. What would you expect for the price? It’s cheap and good looking, that’s good enough for me.

Regarding the ugly numbers, one thing i’m thinking of is a brass name plate screwed over them. You can get one done in most shopping mall… with whatever you want written…?

Edit: i missed out on the GB. Is the ‘original’ box different?

Ha Ha Ha, Just awesome, and great idea,
I just took my trusty Sharpie and made the dumb numbers black, worked for me and by the way,
I saw this new post pop up in my email following the one I just posted above yours and first thought was “Oh know here goes” so very very happy to read your wonderful post and to know my immediate thought was not so, well not yet, but waiting for someone to get upset or really hoping all stays positive and more great ideas like yours, I really don’t want trouble here over old stuff and dumb boxes and your positive idea for another fix is just “That” and exactly what I hoped for here, just a lets fix this stuff so it can represent the name on that box,
So Thank You so much for being so positive and up beat, and a very cool member, my new best friend and etc… ha ha ha,
You know only BLFer’s would come up with almost anything to fix up just about anything that is really garbage, and then make said garbage a work of art and that idea of yours is a really a spectacular idea, like maybe just my name on the brass plate and I do know what your talking about and I believe you can get actually get some out of a machine, just punch in your desired wording and it etches the plate or some of the local engraving shops have these machines and or offer a service for just that size even, wow, and then just some screws or glue even, that is hands down the best idea, heck I might need to buy more boxes now for gifts with their names on it even, what a wonderful idea, thank you again,
You are just one of the reasons I just love BLF and the membership here, creative and never a lack of ideas for any situation.* Your the best patmurrris…!*

Edit: Regarding the inside foam looking stuff, it’s garbage IMO and all 3 I got were just terrible, like the cutout shape for lights was done with a stamping type cutter that was terribly dull and didn’t cut out the light outlines very well at all so they are all now cut into little pieces for maybe the edges around the inside but mostly likely the garbage or cat toys and I’ll either get some of that pluck out the shape type foam stuff and make some nice padding, but the stuff that was inside mine is so so, depends I suppose on just what your intentions are, like for me I’m thinking I want to do gifts, so really with your plate idea and nice foam lining for the lights these are very workable, now, and thanks to you…!! Got the brain cell working now…. :stuck_out_tongue:
Oh, forgot I had actually taken a picture for a maybe complaint to BG about those cutouts and that they are really to small and the lights are a tight fit but maybe it’s as designed to eventually shape to the light, not sure with BG or their manufacturers thinking but maybe that’s why it’s tight.

This is the cut out for the lights, really ruff cut I’d say

My lovely babies,
