The new Imalent DN70 and DN35 mod

OK, after going bat crap crazy tonight trying to find the power switches on the DN flashlights with little success. I taped and drilled a shallow 1/8’’ hole just below the switches and filled the holes with Green Glow-on gun sight paint. It worked out great

How does the dn35 perform? So far I’ve not seen a review anywhere for it so curious if it’s any good.

Got a pic of your mod? I think I might do the same!

Great idea. This is IMO the biggest drawback about this light. Would love to see a pic as well.

You gotta show a pic!

I was thinking these lights need a way to find the switch by feel.

Maybe a vertical row of bumps on the right button and a horizontal row on the left button. Then you could feel the buttons in the dark without looking.

How is the mode spacing on your lights? Are you wishing there was a 1000-1500 lumen mode added?
Or does the 300 to 2500 jump seem okay?

Surprisingly it throws really well. I was impressed for its size. Its worth the code price but not the asking price in my opinion. It has a brighter and slightly wider beam then my MH27 and throws just as well. Its a cool white to where the DN70 is neutral. I really like my MH27 and the DN35 out shines it. That’s all I have right now till my lux meter gets here and I spend more time with it outside. Hope that helps

Not to crazy about the modes at all, there is barely any noticeable increase from high to turbo. From 300 to 2500 on the DN70, Not sure what they where thinking there. Same thing with the DN35, 20, 450,1500, you hit turbo and just see a flicker, hardly any noticeable difference. The switches drive me nuts, they are very flush to the body and a pain to press.Forget finding them in the dark! I’ll try and get some pictures up tomorrow. It was the only thing I could think of other then using another flashlight to turn it on or throw it over the fence. The light output on both lights is impressive for there size. Great design and feel nice in hand but back to the drawing board with the switches and mode spacing.

I theorize they want us to use the high settings over turbo since it’s pretty darn bright and runs longer until thermal protection kicks in.

They only add the turbo feature for bragging rights to show their models are more powerful than the competition. This will boost sales.

I can’t figure out why they have a big step from mid to high. Maybe they figure folks will use high and then the protection will drop it down to 900 so there’s no need to add an extra level.

Personally I would prefer 4 total brightness levels. Like on the dn70, low and med are okay, add a high of 1200 or so and then have a user programable brightest mode of either 2500 or 3800. Let us choose. Manker does something like that in their drivers.

Have all 4 levels with memory. Perfect.

Hey Doug,

Did you get a photo of the mod you’ve done?

Sorry, no way for me to post pictures here. All I did way set punch a hole where I wanted to drill and used an 1/8’’ bit in my Rigid hand drill and slowly drilled a divot enough to fill it with gun sight Glo-on paint. Hope this helps  I have sense thrown both DN70 and DN35 in the scrap pile. I still cant press the power switches with my big thumbs. They’ll make great parts though. The light output for such small flashlights is impressive. I just got my XT11GT yesterday and it’s just as bright as the DN35 but with less throw. much Wider beam pattern and great at 100 yards.

You would need to post pics to a Web host and then put that link here in the forum.

I’ve had a free Photobucket account for the last 12 years or so.

If you want, email chris@chrisc.UK and I’ll put them online for you

OK just sent you an email with pictures, sorry not the best. If you need different ones let me know.
