I find this interesting because it should be pretty easy to build a triple XP-L Hi thrower with that. (Well, at least more throw than the usual triples with TIR)
Does anyone already have this flashlight and can say something about the thermals of it?
I fear that the LEDs just sit on a thin piece of aluminium which doesn’t give enough cooling for what I want to make out of this.
Yeah, the design is a bit wonky - gotta live with that.
Maybe a Convoy-Tube fits
@mrheosuper
I would use DTP boards from KD, so that’s not a big problem.
I just fear that the board is just screwed to the reflector like the latest Kings…
I think I will saw a single Triple board with 4000K 219Cs into 3 parts - its way cheaper than 3 single boards
Edit: on the other hand: the original board is 1.5mm thick, so I think I will spend the extra fee dollars for the 26mm boards, because they are the right thickness.
I hope my question is not too basic (have read item description linked above).
Since I have 3 different C8s already: How difficult would it be to “convert” a regular C8 to a triple one? Is the main difference the triple mcpcb and the reflector? Are these items available somewhere, somehow? I can see the KD triples, but not sure which reflectors will match up.
The Sofirn C8F triple reflector appears shallower than the deeper head allows for. In other words, it looks lke they could have made the triple reflector deeper and thus, with greater throw. When it comes to multiple LED setups, more throw is a welcome thing since multiple emitters usually means lots of flood and very little throw.
Too much flood also goes for multiple emitters with multiple TIR type lens - once again lots of flood and very little throw for the amount of power being used.
I think the only multiple emitter setup wth decent throw is the Foursevens MMU-X3R but that reflector is quite deep for a multiple emitter setup. The 3 emitters also appear closer together toward the center.
